Like Brad said all 71 X"s were SCO cars and so were the 72's, even though the first order of 72's don't appear that way on the cowl tags. (They were pre-ordered before the systems were in place.) Bruce, and yes they were dealer ordered, however for the dealers to get them through the ordering process they were SCO's at the "Zone" level. Duane
So........ a '71 GSX should have "SCO" on the cowl tag? o No: I didn't think that was the case, so confusion is setting in.....
Interesting, not the case on mine. But back on topic, DL, your car is georgeous and I can't believe no one has snatched it up at that price!
WHY IS THIS CAR STILL FOR SALE?!?!?! If I had money Id buy this car tommorow without seeing it in person or even talking to DL on the phone. SOMEBODY grab this thing.
I have never seen it on the cowl tag, but it is on the "Production Order Body Final" build sheet. Show off!!! Yours was definitely a SCO car so it probably was put on the cowl tag. :TU:
OK, here we go guys; DL's car is indeed a very nice car, and if I had the cash there would be no need to have a discussion about anyone finding a good home for it. The 71 GSX's do not have "SCO" written on the body tag. James is correct, Brad remembers seeing it on his "Production Order Body Final" and not on the body tag. (Sorry Brad, even your black car does not say "SCO" on the body tag. I have copies of everything. ) Yes a customer could walk up and order a 71 GSX from any Buick dealer. Yes they were all SCO cars. For the dealership to get the car ordered from the factory the invoice had to be an SCO and go through the zone office. This was also true for ANY 71 GS that came equipped with any of the "GSX" options, such as a hood tach, or a front or rear spoiler. All these cars required special treatment, ie they all had some type of special paperwork/handling, associated with them. A white car with a blue interior and a red top would also have been an "SCO" car because it would not have been a "recommended" color combination. So does this answer all the questions? Duane PS. Sorry for the hijack.
Thank You Ken. I know your wallet right now knows what it cost to restore one of these cars. I appreciate the kind words. no worries guys, this is still on topic and how we learn. I tried to scan in a closer up of the build sheet here with SCO and GSX. I honestly thought would sell right away. As time goes on perhaps I can find a way to afford her, and she will come off the Market. Meanwhile expect her to get a few more miles on the clock this Saturday :3gears: thanks , DL
Dan- My secret is to try and ask Duane the same question over and over.... DL- My wallet melted a long time ago. A beautiful car like yours at that price would have been thought suspicious a year or more ago. I think the economy is killing you right now. If you can hang onto it until there's better consumer confidence and more money circulating through the economy I have no doubt you could get significantly more, considering condition, documentation and low miles. In the meantime, enjoy cruising this Saturday!
Hi Don, Could you please PM me with your e-mail address. I had a few questions I would like to discuss with you about your car. Thank you. :beer Regards, Jason
Sweet car for sale :kodak:, Would prefer to sell to a V8 member before being formally advertised to the general public this spring. Thanks, DL
The GSX is Sold. :ball: I feel honored to be able to own such a special car. And I appreciate all the Kinds words and comments from everyone :TU: . Thanks, DL
