Here's my '64 Wildcat, my wife found it on Louisville craigslist last November while I was in Iraq so she went up there and picked it up and suprised me with it when I came home for my R&R. I love this car, it needs a little work, but it is complete and runs like a champ.

My 2 1/2 year old son helping me test fit our 15x7 Tru Spokes on the 64... They barely cleared the finned drums with a 1/2" spacer lol. White walls coming soon...

  9. Philip,

Did that car come from the North? The rust through on the door at that position is pretty common.

No, it is a CA car from the San Francisco Bay Area. Was purchased from a dealership in San Leandro. I still have both of the original dealership license plate frames. It looks like it was left sitting somewhere wet because it also has rusting where the roof meets the quarter panel.

Is that picture in your signature you when you were a kid?

Thanks Mitch,........ still have the 60 Flxette, 63 Premier combo....... had it at the Buick Nat in Flint last go around.
Had a major garage problem a couple of years ago and had to get rid of about 30 cars including many rare Buicks
    in my collection. ......... John

OK John: A Flex? Just as a 60 used the 4411 to turn into the Premier the 64 would be the mystery. For several reasons. On the B-60's Flxible removed the factory data tag and replaced it with their own.The interiors could have been completely gutted and no trace of the beginning body style would be traceable. If it weren't for a few (obvious to few) tell tale signs of a 4411 like rubber mats and arm rests it too might have been unidentifiable. The 64 Lesabre wagon came standard with the 401/325hp and there again as the B-60 4411 had the 364/250, the B-60 Premier had the 401/325 and the engine number matched the vin number.

Buick kept it's 4 character model numbers through 1964 so the vin tag would only reveal year and model, not body style, which you know already. Narrowing it down it has to be by process of elimination either the 4-door hardtop, 4 door post or wagon. I kind of doubt it was the hardtop (4439) with no post so I'm going to guess it came from a 64 Lesabre wagon and mind you, it's only a guess. The 44, 46,47 and 48 "30" models were the crated chassis but i couldn';t find evidence on ether of my Flex-ez. BTW, Richard Thomas of Atlanta owns both. I'll ask him if he knows anything.

Can you get a hold of Tom MacPhearson? He might know. Mitch

Thanks Mitch,........ the ambulance was built by National, posted pictures earlier of the vehicle in this thread.
The car retains a factory Buick sedan front door only, not sure..........didnt think they made a 2dr sedan in 64 LeSabre,.........
    Wagon?not sure again?
I am leaning toward a 4 dr sedan.......... car retains the original 300 v8 with 4 bbl carb
I know Tom Mc....... dont think he would have the info im looking for.....

OK John: It appears a 4 door sedan by process of elimination. A Hardtop has no post and a wagon has a 401/325. I'm wondering why in the world would they leave such a wimpy engine is such a heavy car??? A Special or Skylark is OK with the 300 tranny because it's a lighter car and the 300 is kind of peppy but the conversion? It makes no sense. The 300 in the 64 and 65 Lesabre was not a real good option for the factory either. 66 got worse with the 66 Lesabre and the 340. That was a gutless wonder that could easily keep up with an automatic Pinto with a 1600. haha Mitch

I think it was simple economics,........ the story goes; the local Elks lodge had fund raising events to help purchase a new ambulance
for the community,....... local Buick dealer supplied the car and was driven to National coach to be converted to ambulance form.
National was a very cheap conversion company, Not in the same league by a long shot as Flxible or any of the other major coach builders.
Nationals bread and butter was chevrolet and Pontiac line, however they would work on any chassis that was supplied to them.
My 64 as built, wearing 63 chevrolet tail lights !!!!!
As a note, I know its nowhere near a 401, but the old girl moves along fairly well for her size.
Your welcome to drive her some day if you like
    John
