^^^ Realize if you try to use " I shot to wound, not to kill", you play into the production 's premise that the situation did not require deadly force, and you are now at an extreme disadvantage by your own testimony. (Now, go back to "Miranda" and understand exactly what it means). You only employ deadly force because that is what you completely and fully believe to be your only option. And you never step off that point, no matter what. If it is the case, push the chips on the number and let it ride, come what may. Trying to move your chips after "all bets are in" will never, ever work in your favor. The house, always, wins.
You have 6 bullits, don't shoot all 6, sucker might keep coming now what? you out of bullits. I was told take 2 shots, see if threat keeps coming, if so take 2 more, if still coming you have 2 left to blo their freakin head off ! That was how I was trained in cc class
Nope. The only waiting is between rounds if you are firing an antique single action revolver. If you imagine you will have the wherewithal to think clearly in such a situation as to count two, then wait to see what happens, you are misinformed. Even a classroom tactical reload under pressure for a typical semiauto pistol is a lesson in fumbling, bumbling, dropping, remembering nothing. Not even remembering how to release the slide before trying a next shot. The only way to finesse the action is repetition, and even that plus simulated pressure is still no comparison to how a human reacts under the real pressure. None of that comes from a CC class. All training aside, I hope I never have to find this out for myself. Devon
Still have my plain wood stock 18 1/2 inch Mossberg that I bought in 1986 and my go to box of shells are #6 also. Now I never had defense training but just having a option is better than not having one..
Best to be aware and prepared. I suffered a "ding dong" run on my doorbell just now! I remember doing the same. Devon
I get frustrated at times when I watch TV with my close friend and neighbor and we come across a video of a cop in a shooting situation. She truly believes that every cop is trained to shoot someone in the leg with their service pistol instead of killing or seriously wounding a suspect thats on crystal meth regardless of when the cop is running or chasing or ducking in a life or death situation. Its like she watches a western and a sheriff is on a horse in full gallop and shoots the bad guy in the leg 100 yards away is a real thing.
It is not your (anyone's ) mission, nor pursuit in life, to wrestle the insanity that grips any other person away from them, any more than a lifeguard in the endeavor of saving one from drowning. Allow the one who is perishing to overcome the one attempting salvation, in the moment, resulting the loss of both, is foolish and gains nothing. Better to realize and have the temerity to do what must be done, and live with no regret, or choose to sit in shore and lament all lost... -Trunkmonkey 09/20/2023
It really bothers me when, in real life, a perp is killed by a cop because he or she was doing exactly as trained and then his momma and uncle (almost never a daddy) are on tv saying ‘he was a good boy, they didn’t have to kill him!’ after the perp, who was out at three am on a weeknight driving a stolen car, carrying a stolen gun, committing felonies and threatening multiple officers’ lives with the gun and the car while trying to avoid capture. Rinse and repeat. Patrick
At times up here guys at work can be an hour from where the call is. Just part of living in a rural area
Here in SW Florida they just captured a teenage perp who intentionally rammed a 64 year old retired cop who was riding a bicycle. He has a history of fights, stolen cars, and thievery. If he was in the Graybar hotel where he should have been, the retired police officer would be alive today. I am a firm believer in the "Three strikes and you're out" laws. The "out" does not necessarily mean life, but it should mean a long stretch without possibility of parole or commutation. Just for the record - I don't care if the dirtbag completes college, finds Jesus, and becomes an ordained minister, he still does the full stretch in prison. JMO.
trufully and well said,2 of my ousins were beat with a hammer by s felon who broke in there house, therewas somine eles there who disabled the guy with a tire iron, the guy had over 8 felony aressts,he got 30years,how much of that he will serve we will see,my ousin says he will wait 4 him 2 get out,,,,,,,,
Yup, and the more religious references, symbols, and crosses that folk have tattooed on normally-visible parts of their bodies, the more likely they are to be a dirtbag. If you are truly a good person you don't have to advertise it. We'll figure it out very quickly.
OMG, I HATE hearing people say that “I’m a good person” What they’re REALLY saying “I’m going to screw you over like I do everyone else”
My Grandfather told me when I was a kid that if you ever shoot and kill someone climbing through your window, make sure that they fall inside.
