Stress is having to sell your GSX! My advice is keep the car if you like it or think you will enjoy it;hopefully your health and job situation will get better quickly. As for all the other opinions[mine included] it will come down to just doing what you think is best for you.Now for my .02 cents: I don't think anyone has to apologize for contacting you about a car you stated you are going to sell,if you want to know the true value of your car put it on ebay no reserve and sell to highest bidder, you bought your car a short time ago and now you are wanting our help to get top dollar for it if you sell it this will make you a flipper, those who offer to help you get the very top dollar for your car probably didn't do that on the cars they own as everyone wants to buy items as cheap as they can or at least what they can afford fair market value[keep in mind we each have different size pocketbooks] Many who want you to get top dollar for your car are complaining about the hobby is too pricey now and is out of reach for the little guy or themselves if trying to buy, many giving you advice on how to get top dollar for your car flamed the Ark seller a fews weeks back for fishing for top prices for his suff[although he did his fishing mixed with a lot of printed lies, fake bidding, cars have sold not sold ect.] there is nothing wrong with making money on a car if you do it legally and with honesty. I have not stated these things to flame or upset anyone but we all are passinate about the things we love and for most here that is Buicks. We are all flippers as we all buy and sell either labor or product to make a living and for some thier labor has netted them big$$ for others such as myself my labor is small change about $12.00 hr but yet the Lord has blessed me with my needs and many of my wants by getting good deals on my both. You must decide what you want for your car and if you want to sell.
I first found this car about 7 years ago and was after it ever since. Values then weren't like they are now. It was the car that interested me, not the value. I believe a flipper is one that buys with the intention of re-selling to make a profit. Therefore, I find it offensive to be called a flipper! Getting top dollar only eases the pain of having to part with it. That's my 2 cents worth.
Dale,I wasn't trying to offend you;and you have your reasons for selling your GSX and I am sure you do have a interest in the cars or you wouldn't have purchased it in the first place;but that is one of my points I was trrying to make as anyone who buys and sells classic cars [or flipper] probably has a interest in those cars as well if not they'ed be selling real estate, construction equipment, stocks, groceries, ect. If they do it legally and honestlly you,me,or anyone else shouldn't find it offensive but because its our hobby or passion we pass judgement without thinking it thourgh. If someone makes a honest living or extra money out of flipping classic cars are thier intentions more offensive than your own? I think most all of us like the free enterprise system as it works much better than socialism. The only thing I find offensive is those who part out fixable classics as that destroys the cars forever;but if they own it then it is thier right to do so.
Just make sure you don't sell it to the "flippers" that troll this board....check out the buyer carefully....... I guess he should avoid a guy like you WildBill Remember me,I bought that 70 GS Stage 1 from you several years back, we agreed on price, done deal ,than you call me back a few days later and say you sold it to someone else for more money, a car that you bought and flipped ! I have no problem with buying a car and selling it .However if you make an agreement with someone honour it. I am a man of my word and you proved that with me on that car you were not,Peace Bill.
Dale I am very sorry you have to sell your GSX . I followed your thread a few years back when you bought the car and how excited you were. I hope you get strong money for you car, you should because it is a very solid intact car. I Hope whatever issue is forcing you to sell, plays out positive for you and your family.
Dale, I have a suggestion: Delete this thread and discuss pricing off-line with some members who are familiar with prices of GSX's. I can't believe a member gets flamed because he wants to sell his car. Come on guys, he's looking for some help from his Buick buddies. Not aggravation. Harvey
I agree with Harvey, respect the mans decision as I am sure it was a hard one to make. I would delete this post an discuss this with Jim W. and other buick collectors/restorers. I own a GSX and I do feel that you will get maximum money for your car on ebay regardless of condition. If someone from this board ends up with the car after the ebay auction ends all the better, but at least you wont be second guessing yourself thinking that you could have gotten more money. I wouldn't be worried about flippers, whoever offers the most money at the end of the day/auction gets the car. From that point on who cares you got your money just my .02 Good Luck:TU: Herb
SX sleeper:ball: :ball: :ball: Health issues suck. I've just about lost everything from this type of problems That car is beautiful!:TU: I would 1st spend $20 on lottery tickets before committing to selling that beauty. I would also inquire @ the Barret Jackson for a top quality car such as this http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ You could also advertise on the HOTRODDERS.com web site they have free ads ads also but then you play to the flippers{Possibly} http://www.hotrodders.com/hot-rods-for-sale.html Set your guidelines aim high & shoot low . If you have to sell it get what you deserve for it. & DAMN THE WIVES:Brow: :Brow: I HOPE YOU GET FEELING BETTER & win the lotto . The best of luck. SR66:TU:
I have received great support and I believe many are truly concerned! But I am diappointed some seem to impugn wrong motives for my posting. Gladly, it has only been a couple. My decision has already been made to sell, therefore I was hoping to get more help establishing a fair market price for it. I know about values being determined by the buyer. There are a few people with larger pocket books than some of the rest of us and may be willing to pay more than the rest of us. Others can only afford so much. Those things are common sense things that apply to any car. However, experience is often the best teacher and most of you have great experience with Buicks! I don't. It's you guys who talk Buicks every day and see cars sold and cars bought, cars restored, ect. ect. ect. That was my purpose in posting, to learn about the value of my car based upon your experience. I have receive only two responses that have expressed a value! Not sure if some are concerned about loosing a chance at buying at a fair price or what? Here's what I knew before I started this post about value. One, I had one un-official offer when I first bought it of $45,000 sight unseen, two, a restorer said may-be 50's, three, Saw one a while ago on e-bay that had the motor in pieces for 17 yrs that didn't reach it's reserve of $69,000. So, I would appreciate some feedback weather here or in PM if these figure are in line or way off the wall. Be straight, I can handle it. I DO appreciate the advice I have already been given! THANX, Dale
Put it on Ebay and let it fly. Let everyone fight it out there! With the prices GSX's have gotten on Ebay, Im sure you'll be happy with the final price you get.
File For Bankruptcy. Laws Were Created To Protect You In Your Situation. Value The Buick At $500,you Wont Have One Problem.
There's no way of telling value without going over the car thoroughly. Condition determines value and you haven't given us enough detailed pics or descriptions to "see" what a restoration will involve.
I dont know about you guys, but I hope I never have to choose between paying my mortgage or selling one of my Buicks. I'd rather live in a box than sell my car
this statement is the problem with your country, not mine. the man is jammed up,and federal bankruptcy laws were CREATED to protect people like the person who originated this topic.
