I like that "Camaro gnX" idea! Ratroaster- the '87 Limited is the standard-issue Regal? What's the plans for it?:Brow:
It's a two-barrel v6 231 1987 Regal Limited. Well optioned southern car. Light metalic blue/dark blue interior. NO RUST and the interior is barely worn. The car is mint. Rides like a dream. Only one problem, headliner is just starting to sag. I bought it last December with 59K miles. I put all highway miles on it. Its up to 79K. Options: Factory rear swaybar, Aluminum rear drums, Factory Chrome 14" Buick Ralleys, Cornering Lights, Landau roof, Coach Lights, PS/PL/PM/PW Rear Defroster, "Light up" passenger side dash, Tilt Steering Wheel, Casette Deck, Concert Sound II, Auto Trunk Release Limited interior Factory Floor mats I hate body work and I was tired of big-blocking beat-up Skylarks & Specials. I paid a good penny to get a nice southern car. I was planning to drop my 1970 SF block 455 in it or finishing my 71 race motor for it. Freinds are pushing me to turbo transplant. I broke my finger, so I'm going let it heal (hurts like a son of a gun) and think about what I'm going to do. Its always been a rule of thumb for me to never get attached to a car, but I have to move up with every car I sell off. Hence, If I trade or sell off this ride, I'll have to land a Grand National, T-type, or a GS. So if the right offer comes my way, I'll send it packing.
That'd be sweet when it's done, turbo 6 or 455. How much would you sell it for when you're done and have the need for a GNX?
Timeslips!!! Now we can answer this the right way. Mike has added a timeslip feature to the board.:TU: Let's see what you guys have got.
Hey 1993SC2, It all depends on the buildup. The car is worth $3K as is. A 455 or V6 would add to its value. The V6 turbo cars seem to have the most value because of the larger interest. It would be a fun project. Now..............If I could get ahold of a real GNX.......................I guess I can always dream!!
Hey Toast, Modifying your blue Regal might not be a bad thing to do. Most folks who try to make a car into something better end up paying to much and still having a car thats not a GS or GN. However, since you have a couple Big Blocks and a body that needs Zero work, why don't you go for it? I can't see how you'd lose.
Going to wait till the spring................If I land a T-R the SF block 455 will be in like Flint!! Then I'll have the perfect pair and Turbo and a Big Block Regal:Brow:
On page one I was hoping for 9.30's on a fresh engine. Well did better, ran a 9.25 (twice back to back) at 144.10 mph and a 1.31 sixty foot time. Did some minor changes and hoping to better it a little bit this coming East Coast Regional meet at Cecil County, MD on October 8-9th.

That's awesome Rick. What did you do to lighten it? Are you able to use plastic windows/fiberglass panels in your class?
Weld wheels and no tubes in slicks, glass doors, deck lid and hood and bumpers. Lexan all around, Wildwood front discs, Aluminum driveshaft, bumper brackets trimmed to half the weight, no inner fender wells, nothing under the dash at all, all factory carpet insulation gone, manual steering, no sway bars, plastic racing seat on aluminum bracket, no mirrors (interior or doors). Bottom line if I can remove it I will if I can't I'll trim it down. Even sold the rear bumper BUICK name plate and had a repro decal replacing it. Will also do the same for the side markers and front bumper parking lights. Like my bud Greg Gessler always told me, "16 ounces is a pound, every bit adds up to shaving weight. It just gets tricky and you have to be creative as you go further down the line." My goal is to get it under 3,000lbs. with me in it. I figure maybe I can shave 20 pounds off my arss which would leave me another 50 off the car. hmmm??? It seems maybe now it may be coming to a time to switch over to a glide to gain some more net HP and shave some weight. Maybe next year. Right now I want to enjoy it.
Ever plan on doing the holey thing to all the panels? 9.25 @ 144.10 Mph *is* something to enjoy. :TU:
Hello, my best so far is 11:31 on pump gas. Lately I have the urge to get into the 10 second club, So maybe its time for a different motor, I am thinking of a 475 ci with eagle rods so I can turn it harder. I can't decide if I want to stay pump gas or just go for it and build a 12to1 motor. :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:    Tom
I was pushing my car just a few minutes ago, so if the track was level, I could probably push my car 1/4 mile in about 15 minutes.
