OK, so the location that the car was at when I spotted it was the home of a private individual. After weeks of negotiating between him and the title holder and a third-party and having the police involved, we have the car. Also got the engine which Dave Hemeker refreshed about 10 years ago. There are still some loose ends that I'm hoping to tie up. A few other pieces of the car still need to be located.
Wow, that car has seen some stuff. Do you know the history of it at all? And if I owned it, I'd drive it just like that!
Jason, that's an Apollo GSX. I like Saturn as much as the next guy but everyone wants a white Christmas...
I believe the car was sold new in Detroit. My friend that passed away owned it since 1973 or 74. He discovered it sitting in a back alley in Detroit with a blown engine. It had very low miles and had been raced around the Detroit area. He always wanted a Saturn yellow GSX. As part of the "putting it back on the road" process, he had it painted Saturn yellow and fixed the engine. He and his wife drove it to California and back for their honeymoon trip.
You got me to log on after reading last 2 pages. Amazing. Very happy for you. And optioned exactly how I’d order one. Congratulations. Look forward to seeing a Resto thread on this car.
Another one will be saved. Maybe not exactly like factory built but saved nonetheless. Merry Christmas brothers!
The next pic you post should be in your driveway. Let me know when it's there and I'll fly down for the week and you can put me to work.
The only piece missing from the story is it blew up the engine while it was smoking “the black ghost”.
And regarding any other GSX's, there is one more that I know about that everyone should check out. Ajesh can enlighten anyone who might be interested in purchasing it.
