Just read that his mother took him to the gun range to shoot. Sounds like a great mother/son activity. Then he can go home and play some violent shooting video games.

Great...teach a kid with mental issues how to shoot. Like adding fuel to a fire....

I still don't understand why we haven't heard about how/where the guns were stored. Aren't they supposed to be locked up....and did he have a key or combo?

My sister's husband worked with the kid's father and....my sister lives a couple towns over and knows some of the parents that lost kids. She's got two funerals to go to.....

Honestly though you cant stop a nut from doing crazy stuff unless you kill them before they can. Take guns away he will blow up something, axe em to death etc... only one you can blame is the nut and the media for glorifying for it for all the other nuts that want there name on tv that will do similar.

A freakin men. There are so many things missing from today's
society. One huge thing to me is accountability amd just plain "owning" your actions. That starts with your first step out of bed everyday. KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR!! America ws born on everyone being welcome and US ALL working together to make it good here. We have become a nation battling each other this is not good. Now nobody knows a neighbor let alone help a brother you know. We have all we need right here and have somehow become a society of what can be done for me. If we would ALL just reach out and support one another look where we could be. Be the posiitive force in a day to at least person. Bet that would pay huge dividends. America has become it's own worse enemy. We HAVE TO as a country pull together. We all paddle the same boat...

Plenty more involved than just that but seriously. C'mon people now smile on your brother.. Everybody get together...

    Only we can change us

This is an unbelieveable world these days. To have this happen to anyone let alone kids is beyond words. One thing that I have learned to live by is that Angels need to be all different ages etc. Having so many young full of life souls pass so quickly may have more depth than we may ever know here. Teachers and adminstrators etc putting THEIR lives in front of their kids as much as they could. Pain and Prayers over and over for all those touched. Get out there and give someone a hello I got your back or whatever. If you still are blessed enough to have those loves in your life make it completely obvious that you do love them today.

We really need to care about one another :TU:

A little late to this thread, but I've also had some time to think about it.

There's no justification for allowing these kind of acts to continue.

Anyone who feels they need a gun for protection should seriously consider why, deep in their heart, they think having life and death power over another human being makes them safer. The desire for that life and death power is the same thing mass killers love; maybe the only difference is in the level of self control we exercise.

I think we should be fining gun manufacturers each and every time one of their products are found to have been used in a crime. This would not affect second amendment rights, but it would create a "market force" to give incentives to make guns less accessible to crazies. right now, the gun business is out of touch with the death and mayhem they are selling.

Do we start suing knife manufacturers for stabbings? Why do the blades have to be so sharp? Car manufacturers every time one of their 4000lb missles gets used as a weapon to run someone over? its a slipperly slope my friend.

I agree something has to be done without infringing on my constitutional rights. I am not willing to give up my liberties for false security.

100 million gun owners shouldnt have to be punished for the criminal abuse by .000001% of the population.

Maybe gun owners don't deserve to be punished, but they DO have a responsibility to participate in the resolution of these problems. And I'm not talking about asinine ideas like arming grade school teachers.

Removing the liability protections that the gun manufacturers enjoy might make the cost of your purchase go up, and maybe significantly. It might help pay for the millions of dollars in taxpayer costs that come out of the next mass shooting.

And speaking of liberties and security - I have spent my whole life using firearms for hunting, but I have also chosen to live in a place and a way that does not require me to be armed for my own or my family's protection. I think every person should be entitled to that level of liberty and security.

thats stupid sorry. look at the unibomber he killed hundreds didnt have a gun. the only person your hurting by taking guns away are the law abiding citizens. most criminals and crazy people steal theres smuggle them etc.. look at this guy he stole his mothers guns. if hadnt had a gun he would have had a axe a crossbow fire whatever. schools need better security thats all would stop something like this. as for gun to protect yourself well if guns were taken from people your murders rapes robberies all would increase dramatically. why you ask well a 80 year old man a hundred pound woman cant defend themselves against some 240lb guy that wants to hurt them or kill them. from police stand point i see it everyday and some of those people have only survived by being armed. the world is full of bad people along with the good that want to bad things to the good people. nobody wants to take a human life but lets put it this way. imagine some nutcase decides to come into where ever you are with your family and starting attacking them with a axe and a knife. are you really going to set there and let them do it? or would you do everything in your power to stop it? now if your setting there with a 12 gauge shotgun when he does this are you not going to blow his head off? i would and wouldnt think twice.

... I heard yesterday that there is a run for not only just this particular gun but any that can be labeled "Assault" because of fear they won't be able to buy them in the future.

Give us a little credit here. The last thing I want, is to have to answer to why I had to take a life, even if it was to protect my own.

The reason anyone would need a firearm for self protection, is that law enforcement bears no obligation to protect the individual from violent crime. Regardless of the "to serve and protect" creed of law enforcement, their only obligation under law is to investigate crime, and arrest and detain offenders. Self protection is the sole responsibility of the individual.

its impossible for law enforcement to protect everyone anyhow.

thats stupid too. he could have went in with a pump shotgun or a 30-06 deer rifle and killed just as many.

I want the right to protect Family and property, And the more fire power for me the better.

    History of Gun Control:

*Our founding fathers would not have started the American Revolution if they didn't have firearms.
*Japan did not invade the U.S. in WWII because they knew 2/3 of American households had firearms.
*Prior to the Rape of Nanking, the Chinese government outlawed civilian ownership of firearms. When Japan invaded and the Chinese army were outnumbered, they retreated. The Japanese were free to, and did: rape babies in front of their mothers and vice versa, massacre and humiliate in numerous graphic other ways, an entire city. This was made possible because the Chinese citizens has no means to resist or protect themselves.
*Women are multiple times higher to be victims of sexual assault if they are unarmed. And 95% of the time, all it takes it to merely brandish the gun, or shoot a warning shot in the air to scare away the predator.
*"It can't happen here." It already has. During the days of slavery, and in the decades following the abolition of slavery, those freed were persecuted. All southern states had strict laws against any "negro" owning a firearm. The KKK had their way and burned people at the stake.

*The evidence shows that criminals do not follow the laws. They will obtain guns anyway, the only thing laws do is ban law-abiding citizens from means of protecting themselves, their families, and their property.

    To blyons79,

Your Skylark and most certainly your ZX14 would be considered "practical" transportation? The bike runs a 10.?? 1/4 mile out of the box. There is absolutely no reason to have a bike that fast. You could kill youself or an innocent person riding that bike. And the Skylark, why??? It's a polluting dinosaur and you have two very nice cars that you can drive instead. I don't think you need the bike or the Skylark, so why have them?

Nothing personal intented. Just trying to make a point.

I hope the parents of these children have found a little peace knowing that these babies now walk with the Lord.
    God bless them all.

It is much easier for a Goverment to control people when they are unable to defend themselves. The last thing I will ever want is to allow the goverment more control of law abiding citizens.

And what about serving and our vets? they are/were good enough to protect this country with some of these so call "assault style rifles" but not good enough to protect their home with it after serving? That would be ridiculous.

And if those in charge are allowed to start messing around with any, much less the 2nd artical of the admendment, what do you think is going to be next? Bill of rights? Constitution maybe?

Welcome to the new America where there is no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. Back in the day, if you spilled hot coffe on your crotch, you called caled an idiot and everyone went on with thier lives. But not anymore. Its McDonalds fault for making it too hot. Its always someone elses fault.

When the knife or "blade" was originally designed(used through evolution) there were no firearms anyway so these comparisons are quiet odd. I can just see the stone cutter or blacksmith getting sued:Dou: Then again we live in a society of it's all about me and what I am entitled too, and lets not forget the Politically correct crap ,or I will sue you because you have more than me( I want what you have mentality).

How about we stop posting in the thread unless you have a thought or comment that has to do with the victims and families. My family is heading to the northeast tonight and when we pass a few miles north of Newtown, Conn. we will all say a prayer for all those affected by this.
The emotion many people feel is deep, what ever that feeling is, this can be as dangerous as talking politics here.

Let's all spend time with our families and friends and make sure you let them know you care. As you just never know when the end is coming:(

Right on, bruddah. I feel for those families, and hope to never see this occur again in America. That will require taking care of the mentally ill. That care was reduced in the '80s, during the Reagan administration, and needs to be fixed.

I haven't heard one thing about how his hands on the guns. Shouldn't they have been locked up? Put stiff penalties on the owners if they don't have them secured?
I think putting cops in every school is too far down the chain....need to back up to the source(s) of the problem. IMO
