Absolutely unthinkable. Crazies are drawn to "gun free zones". Friends, with this in mind today, it's easy to see how blessed we are, and, we just don't have any problems of consequence.
    God bless those families.

This is a sad day in America. A whole class room of kinder gardeners, what kind of crazies would do such a thing. I really feel for the poor parents who are having to endure such a travesty. 5 year olds are still babies in my eyes.

It was very difficult to hear this news as I drove back to work from lunch today. My 7 and 14 yr old kids are still our babies, and such a senseless act of violence against children really hits home. :(

I cannot even find words to describe my feelings about this. The evil in this story is mind blowing.
I have been praying for these people since I saw the breaking news earlier today.
People should be driven to protect children, not harm them. I know its real but I cannot believe this.

    ITS A FREAKING ELEMETARY SCHOOL!!!:af::af::af:

I too shed a tear for the little ones lost and the suffering those families will forever endure - more the worse being around the holiday season.

... I would bet serious money the killer has every violent "shooter" video game out there. It is time Xbox, PlayStation etc start taking responsibity for what they program our youth with. Didnt "call to action" just set a new sales record ?

We may never know what motivated this but I strongly believe that young minds programmed on violent video games can not be a good thing

I agree with Rob H, HUGS YOUR KIDS IF YOU CAN...
And Alan, Violent videos should be yanked, along with shows on TV like Amish Mafia.

Its a matter of time before someone goes into a sporting event and does the unthinkable.
Outlaw assault rifles and give real mandatory jail time(10yrs) for having a gun outside the home without a permit period.

My heart and soul goes out to all the victims and families affected by this senseless tragedy today..........but your reaction is exactly what the powers that be want.

A skilled shooter could have done just as much carnage with a semi-auto .22 rifle......

I agree with Alan totally.....the media and gaming industry are teaching our youth to be killer zombies..........not happy....just find a gun.......you'll be famous for weeks......... :af:

    Guns don't kill people......PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE !

    Just my .02 cents worth......

    Peace WildBill

Just unimaginable tragedy. I live only about 10 minutes away. Such a nice, quiet town. Who would have known. I was so thankful to pick up my son at the bus stop today. His school was on lock down. My prayers go out to all. Those teachers and the Principle whos has also passed are heroes to do what they could to protect further loss. God Bless to all and pray for peace in their hearts

I have grandkids in elementary school, and the idea of them in that classroom makes me physically ill. Even if they survived, they'd be scarred for life. Regardless of how you feel about guns, the fact this can happen and happens repeatedly in our society means that something is horribly wrong.

i'm not a gun advocate. but to each his own. my wife, who is an e.r. nurse for 40 yrs, and i were discussing the causes of terrible things like newton. this has been coming for a long time in our society.

Mental health issues! mental health insurance is NOT on the same plane as regular health insurance. insurance companies don't/won't recognize that humanity has problems. insurance companies have gone out of their way not to offer or offer very little to help anybody with mental issues.

i want everybody to think about this problem society has that nobody cares about until after the fact. look around your zone. how many are in great need of mental health. if your are a great patriot, look at what happens to our veterans, who protect our asses, who have come back and have mental health issues. does OUR government, which includes you and me, care about them? kinda of hard to prove it does because our beloved veterans are living on the street homeless with mental issues.

we as a society need to beat up our representatives and tell them to pass laws that make the best mental health insurance available to society. otherwise these massacres will continue to happen.

    my .02 cents

    Terrible tragedy.

Prayers go out for all of the victims.

There was a reason they used to institutionalize and castrate crazy people, rather than trusting them to take their medication.

The more our population grows, the more we will see this sort of thing.

I find it pretty silly to blame video games for a person's actions. I've played plenty of violent video games, played paintball, own firearms, BUT I've never contemplated doing such a thing as this, or any "rampage" for that matter.

It is a matter of self control and mental health. In nature, the weak, genetically flawed, or mentally ill do not survive, but with modern medicine, nearly everyone has a chance to live to hurt others.

I think it would be hard to prove that video games, television, or violent movies caused this guy to do what he did in 1927: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_disaster

I suppose they need knife and cleaver control laws, with stricter permitting processes in China: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_attacks_in_China_(2010–2011) and Japan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka_school_massacre

This happened in China TODAY: http://news.ca.msn.com/world/china-stabbing-spree-hurts-22-schoolchildren

Those poor parents. They probably have all the kids presents wrapped up. I cant even comprehend how they are going to get through Christmas?

And criminals and insane people dont care about gun laws. Gun laws only keep law abiding people from owning them.

Cars, alcohol and drugs kill and don't forget texting or lack of attention while driving, but we still have cars. As someone who has unfortunately lost several family members, at different times because of other peoples driving and social habits:af: I still own cars. It was the individual not the weapon that took my family members, my Mom included! That said I am guessing that alcohol or drugs and their effects cause far more deaths than guns....
    So lets get back on track;

Today was a terrible day for so many people in that community and all those that are connected to the friends and families.
I can't even imagine the feeling of loss that that community must be experiencing

Please lets stay focused on what happened and not turn this into a political thread that will be sure to get locked.
