I have been going off and on since the early 80's probably won't go back. it's not the GS nationals anymore it's the v6 chainsaw nats now. Hate the sound of a turbo'd v6. Love the sound of bbb. Especialy through mt scavenger headers and full exhaust. I guess I am getting oldo No: Flame suit on. I guess I am not really a Buick Fan because to me after 1972 I don't take a 2nd look. :eek2:
Sorry for the negative post. $150 in fuel, $40 in admission(2days) $62 hotel room, $1200 hd digital camcorder, $6 pancho, $2 earplugs for the chainsaws, $300 in buick parts, Coming home Firing my BBB and doing some holeshot toting front tires... Priceless.
The Galina Freeman car tuned by Kenny Duttweiler went 6.98, Should have seen the Dragster go 6.87 while lifting at 1000 ft.
Pics look great. I have been to a couple of nats shows before kids and they were both fun. I might go again in the future. May doesn't work well due to a bunch of family stuff at that time. Gas prices can't be helping but I wouldn't be surprised if attendance inches back up as people prepare all year for the higher costs of getting there. Diehards will still find a way to go. I mainly am replying to curse whomever didn't turn in the missing money. No matter what excuse you use to make yourself feel better, it's not your money, turn it in.
FASTANG: I didn't think much of the Turbo V-6 Regals either until May 1988 when I towed the Kenne Bell test car ( a T Type Regal) from California to Bowling Green. The guy that traveled with me, (who was the KB test driver) picks me up at the Motel in that Regal about 2 hours after we unloaded it. MAN! that pumped up V-6 had me feeling all giddy inside. I wanted to drive that car so bad. He got on it a few times with me in it, and I think it ran high 11's at the track. ( if my memory serves me correctly) That was 20 years ago when that car was 1 or 2 years old. They sure have come a long way.:TU:
Some lady droped her new $800.00 Camara (not turned in) Someone droped their cell phone (turned in) Some else droped a smaller sum of money (not turned in) Some thing else "lost", but can not think of it now (not turned in) Like someone else said anyone can say the cash was their's, but I can ID it (not the serial numbers though). People I relate with would have at least made an effort to get it returned.
I saw it in the lady's hand. I did not get her name, but I can pick her out if I had to. She was at the little shack in the front of the oval track. It looked like a folding Samsung (gray in color).
A friend asked me to see if i could find his green cooler he left friday night. when i asked the track officals they said they saw it early sat. morning but now it must be gone. I was at the track @ 8am.went back 2 times to see if anyone turned i in. so who got it? we will never know i guess. I hate a thief.
i'll find out what model it was and get back to you, sounds right... edit >> I was just informed 5 minutes ago that my brother in law tragically just dropped dead this morning, so I REALLY need to find this phone, any help appreciated, thanx
Was the Woman woking the guard shack? If so, I may be able to help you track her down. Let me know. Regards, John.o No:
Yes I agree with you but , if you dropped say 269.00 and someone found 269.00 without telling them what you found you can be assured its their money. Come one someone out there found this and maybe doesn't know Mike and what that money means to him. I guess most would keep that found money but some of us thought Buick owners were different John
My wife was with Mike Evans and saw the lady at the gate house with the phone. She believes it was Geven Aston wife. We just met them on Friday she had given my wife a ride in a one of the golf carts. Call me(423.877.7137) I can give you their number. I don't want to give it out here without their permission.
It was my wife...here is a private message i sent Jim H earlier.... Originally Posted by Woodmaster Jim, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Fastang, I too like the sound of a old GS breathing through M/T's....which one was yours at the GS Nationals this year? I probably remember it rumbling through....let me know. Thanks, Geven
Geven, your not going to believe this... but a very nice lady who lives in Franklin TN that was at the event found my BIL's phone.... the better news is she lives virtually 5 minutes from him... he won't be there to accept it though, but what a nice lady. I'm going back to Nashville tomorrow night so if I find out her name i'll post it. You just can't beat Buick people. Wow... I'm sincerely impressed with that gesture of her kindness... JH
Mike... That really sucks to hear about. But it was nice to meet you and John after meeting Jon with his Suncoupe out there. It was great to put a face to the names that I look at posts of our cars. It is hard to look at it as what comes around comes around, but I am sure it will. I only wish I had found the money, as I know without a doubt I would have found it's owner. I am a firm believer in karma. I am fortunate to have good happen for me quite often, and I believ the reason why is for how I handle situations like finding something of that nature. There is still time for a good person to step up to the plate. And I absolutely hope that you do not become deterred to not attend next year if someone is not honest enough to square up. Mike
I really get annoyed by people who DON'T attend and then comment about low attendance. You guys should come with your cars, and then turnout will be higher, won't it? Also, when you start comparing the BPG event turnout to the turnout in BG, it's not even close, so don't bother comparing it. BG draws at least triple the number of the race cars, show cars, and spectators that Columbus does, even in a year like this. I haven't missed a BPG event yet, but if this one is as hot as last year's, you won't see me there in '09, and I'm dead serious. I LOVE the fact that this event is in May and I'll risk some rain for that. The temps never went over 75 all week, just wonderful!! Screw that August heat!
Jim, That's great, maybe this will ease the load of things that you guys have on you right now. Was Bill by any chance the one riding the motorcycle in? Thanks, Geven
