Yes, I agee about the disappear... the big economy picture,,, like the late 1970's. I gathered with my friend at a vendor stand Wednesday... They sold alot... good for them only deal in town ... I hope the smell of bad economy air is not in the wind. Who had that 1970 stage 1, 4 speed with color combo of green, with tan top and tan interior. Wow......... perfect ...
I hate to hear about the poor turnout! I assumed it would be low this year due to the $$$ crunch. I was just too busy to make it this time and with fuel prices so high, I just don't like pulling my car around right now getting 9.5 mpg. So, at what point does the organizer consider stopping the Nationals? I wouldn't think we are to that point yet, but do you think it will get there in the coming years?
Berta, i heard about a certain two tone turbo car dragging the bumper, but no shots??? Was that Q-16 lineup?? Looks a little short.
Man, sorry to hear the car count is down. After looking at some of the pic's and now that my GS is back on the road I told the wife I wanted to go to BG next year! Long tow, but I'd like to do one Buick meet. Wonder if the other meets will have a better attendance. Like to go to the best one given the $$$ for fuel :af:
I know what ya mean, seems like all the fun is out east. I can't eimagine making that haul from where your at. seems like more people could go if it where central to the U.S.
Yeah, it'd be a good three day tow back there, even further for the BPG event. But I guess the events are more centrally located based on the concentration of owners vs. a strictly geographical. For now we just hope for lots of pictures!
:beers2: Well, Will you have the ability to test and tune my Suncoupe or my T? And allow me to get some good time slips to show? Yardley, I know of your events, and I actually tried to attend one a few years back when I was in NY, but problems kept me from being there. This is my first time being at a Nationals show, having been desiring to come for some 20+ years being into Buicks. I will say that it has been a blast and most enjoyable to meet so many Buick people and especially the few that have influenced the movement of our passion. As far as attendance goes, if the support does not increase, then the ability to continue our move forward may drastically slow to a halt. With that said, the pity BS that a few that has organized for differences within the Buick community needs to be seen as the BS that it truly is. We are all here for one desire, to promote our Buicks in every way possible. So for all that may not be attending because of ignorant differences, come off your high horses and get out to support the cause. Stop bickering and get out and have supporting challenges to keep progress moving forward, not sideways for your antics to divide. :beers2: :beers2: :beers2: Threes cheers to all that attended, and I look forward to being here next year. Mike
Isn't the Year One deal this weekend, too? I wonder how well attended it was, and how many potential Nats visitors may have gone over to GA instead. RudyE.
There are only so many weekends available, and something is bound to overlap. I agree... the Buick community needs to come together. However, there is a difference in opinion on how a Buick club - and Buick event - should be run. Is one event better than another? I don't know; but any time we can get together is a fun time. Can we support 2 National events? I don't know either, but what I DO know is that there is no possible way I can attend a May event, so the August event works out splendidly for me. And I'm sure there are many others who like the option to choose an early event or a late event. The BPG event has been a LOT of fun all 4 years, and I'm convinced that the heat last year kept many people away and many more people off the track. Let's hope for some better weather this year!
Ditto, Yards...if I could make it this time of year, I'd be there. August is so much better for me, time-wise for the company.
Not five hours apart. When there is already competition to sell the same thing (you have to admit this exists here) , It's better to not put your Popsicle stand right across the street and sell during the same hours.
I will get you guys lots of pictures.....and we even had a great showing from Texas! (1100 miles one way!) It was a blast, and the guys from every chapter were great...but special thanks to the Northeast Chapter...GREAT JOB! Scott Bob Frazee (Bronte, Tx 1st place B-1) Me....semi finialist in the Super 16!!!
