"Isnt it a felony to buy a frame like this that has the VIN # on it?" No it is not a felony, and that is a good thing because every frame has a vin number stamped into it, however it could be a felony if the frame was stolen. Single Stage The info on my frame section is Hayes 3960731 9 10 69 3 Which decodes as a 4-door frame that was built on 9/10/69. I thought it was off a GS 455 but cut it off a 4-door I got from N Carolina. I saved it because it was so nice and the pieces are the same as the 2-doors. Let me know if you are interested. Duane
Thanks for the reply duane. I think Ill have to pass because I need a frame with the big block part number on it with a close date code
This car that I have,I got it in 1973,it was a trade-in and my brother worked for the dealer and called me,to tell me about it.He knew I was looking for a 70 BBB,at that time I had a '68 GS400.I sold that for $1.500.00 and got the '70 for $1.650.00.I still have the dealer's bill of sale.Sold as is,no warranty. Can't do that anymore. The car at that time had 33.000 miles.Sold to a friend,he made a race car out of it,Got it back a few years later, and that is the story.BrunoD.
Doug here you go, "394331 121691 XK" 1969 Skylark/GS 350 2-door coupe frame, not for a big block, and built on Jan 21, 1969. Duane
That is the car I talked about selling the frame. It is my original 70 GS455.The guy I sold it to made a race car out of it.He cut out all the metal by the dashboard,by the doors and by the back panels to lighten it up.It has a 12 bolt Chevy with 410 and a spool.all the glass is there. So I will be parting it out soon.
