Here's one of the fixes I had to make- the bell crank for the column shifter fell apart. Upon inspection, I saw that there is supposed to be some kind of bushing there and it was just clunking around in there until it fell out of the outer bracket.

Good luck trying to find the correct bushing. I used a dorman bushing. It's a transmission cable bushing for a 1990s Ford something or other. Also is the exact same bushing Ford used in thier factory Hurst shifter linkage. It's identical to those brown/ black ones.

I drilled the inner diameter to 3/8" and wouldn't you know! A perfect fit! Like it was made for it!! Lol. I even put a C clip on it after I took the pic.

So the carburetor is basically garbage on this car. Runs like absolute crap. Pig rich. The carb shop I've been using for 30 years told me $300 to rebush and rebuild it. I'll talk to my friend and see what he wants to do. He really ought to swap it over to a regular ignition system and get rid of all this lean burn crap. He's already taking a bath, what's a little more water in the tub?

I think it would of been so much easier to throw $100 bills in the toilet :p

You’ve got a wonder about somebody who wants to “bring back” a ‘79 Chrysler ANYTHING(?!) Really, is there even one redeeming quality of this car? OK, I need to lay off, I think all of us old car guys have a bit of a screw loose anyways for all of this old junk we spend our time on :)

fortunately you are at sea level so you have a fighting chance of possibly getting that engine to run well enough to tolerate. At 6000 feet elevation getting that old lean burn stuff to run is a hopeless situation. The engine has like 7 to 1 compression and a gear reduction starter. Imagine trying to start that thing when it’s 10° outside in Colorado, it sounds like you’re trying to start a car with the spark plugs out .If you owned that car back in the day you know you get to stay home from work :)

    BURNOUTS ?!?! Now there’s a good laugh. :)

OK, here’s the challenge: post a video of the big New Yorker doing a burnout after the “tuneup” :) I have my money on the toilet that says you can’t get that car to turn a tire against a dumpster in the alley unless you get some 90 weight under that right rear tire first……..
