    Rick,
Found it. Jan/Feb 2001 GS Extra, Article is"Motor Oil...Buyer Beware!" by Jack Merkel. Then in May/June GS Extra, in the Letters section, is a letter from Denny Manner entitled "Anti-Wear Supplement." It says:
"Jack Merkel recently wrote a good article on wear concerns in our old Buick engines with todays oils. The old engines with flat lifter camshafts and non-roller rocker arms are particularly sensitive to scuffing and wear because these areas operate with very thin oil films. Zinc as an oil additive is used to enhance lubrication in critical areas like these. GM engine oil supplement is a zinc based additive designed many years ago specifically for this need. I believe in using good oil and fuel and usually don't recommend additives, but this one works. I use one pint (GM part# 1052367) with every oil change in our 1966 GS 425 V8. Remember even with an additive don't overfill the engine oil level."

We use Mobil 1. Either 5-30 or 10-30. If we want to go faster, 0-30. Trap rpm 6,200 with about 60 psi oil pressure. (small block)

Yes Mobil1 is coming out with a 0-20. It has been used for a number of years by the Formula 1 teams.

Zinc is a great frictin fighter. Mobil 1 15W-50 has more of it than their lighter weight oils. We use this in out tow vehicles. 92 Chevy 1500 series with a 305 that has almost 250K miles with no probles so far (keep fingers crossed). I believe the reason that Zinc amounts were lowered in lighter oils was due to zinc not getting along with catylatic converters very well.
