    As in your model vs the same generation, for example a 1968 Skylark/GS details over a 1969 Skylark/GS, or a 70,71,72 Skylark/GS, or a 73,74 Century/Regal/GS, or a 63,4,5 Riviera, or a 69,70 Wildcat, you get the idea.

for me the 1968 Skylark GS vs the 69 is, vent windows (except 69 Special incl Cali GS), no head rest (at least the way mine is optioned), key in dash, Wood look sport steering wheel, interior door panels. 69 does have the hood though (but so do i now :Brow: )

this isnt a what is all the differences, but what difference you like most or made you choose your year over the others in the same generation.

I have a 67 GS 2dr. h.t. I prefer it to the 66 because of the looks of the hood and grille. I also like the fact that 67's have the 400 engine and TH 400 trans.
I have a '71 GS convert because it was the best car of the 70 -72 style that I could find. :) I know there are purists out there who will argue that the 70 is the best year because of the better engines but that didn't matter to me. I had two "musts" when buying a 70 - 72...if it was a HT it had to be a 4 spd. A convert could be either auto or 4spd. Thanks to ChinaMike I have a beautiful 71 GS auto convert...and it's actually on its way. Should be here in 7 - 10 days.

I prefer my 1985 Regal because it was all I could buy for $250.

One thing I like about the 72's is the rubber protection on the bumpers. I don't know how many scratches and dings I would have without those things. Another is the low compression, I can run it on the cheap stuff if I want to. I don't know if this is a 72 only thing but I also love the seat belt buzzer. I have a friend that loved to play songs like la cucharacha(sp?) by letting the belt slide in and out of its retractor. Wasnt too much fun for the driver though :blast:

the fact that my skylark has nearly all the same parts as you GS guys.. so i can make my skylark a badass under the hood but keep the skylark badges... really suprises most people when i say that yes indeed, that is a 455 under the hood... instead of a 350, most people can't recognize the two apart unless they know their buicks.. i had 454 chevy guys tellin me buick never made anything bigger than chevy's... that were kinda suprised when i pulled out TA Performances magazine and said.. "here's $50... wanna race?"

I'll have to chime in here with the rest of you 72 lovers. I personally like the 72 best over the 70/71 because it looks more finished to me. I guess it's the rubbers on the bumpers and the painted headlight bezels that puts it on top for me. Although I still think the 65 Skylark is probably the best looking car Buick ever made.

Guess I will offer another opinion. I love a 66 GS. Good looks and a Nailhead engine. My favorite powerplant from GM. I like 71 and 72 GS cars over 70's. Better looking front and rear bumpers to me. Probably a 71 best because I never liked the center rear bumper guard on the 72's. I would own any from 65 to 72 though. Love Buicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love all buicks......but what i like about mine is........it's economically great, heating fo cold winters, vinyl seats, and the thing i love best about it is the unbelivable amount of speed i can gather on take-off in the 231 V6:eek2: :3gears: it huddles from
0-30 MPH in about 4.6 seconds when you step down on it a little, and 0-60 in probably 11/12 seconds if you step down a little on the accellerator. and it only has about 105-115 horsepower and it goes that fast. It's a sweet first car:TU:

    First off, I've only owned 70's, 72's

I LOVE the 70, because of the engine (bigger IS better!:Brow: ), the fact that you can put fatter tires in the rear, the eggcrate grill (Best Looking IMO!), the aggressive curves of the front bumper, and the big as New Jersey rear bumper!! Plus it was my first Buick! (70GS455 4-speed)

But I have a special place in my heart for the 68-69's!:bglasses: :TU: ESPECIALLY 69 Stg 1's!!:jd: VEERRY SEXY LINES! First GS I ever laid eyes on, back in HS. A guy down the street had 2 of them!! :eek2: :Dou: I was VEERRY JEALOUS, and was like, WTF?? Why do you NEED 2? I want One!!

But I do NOT like the horizontal instrument panel! [IMG] [IMG]
I love watching the round speedo twist SO FAST it makes you DIZZY! :bglasses:

OTOH, I have a HARD TIME disliking ANY Buick of ANY YEARS with NICE rims, and FAT 10-12" tires stuffed in the wheelwells......GS's, Skylarks, Regal's, GN's whatever!:Do No:  :beer

The thing that I like best about my model, 1970 X-Camino, is that even at the GS Nationals I can easily find it.

One of the things I like best about my car is that I can fit a small apartment worth of stuff in it  .

I love the way my '70 Stage 1 and my '87 GN look. To me,they are very good looking, very sleek, and very fast. Plus, they are Buicks. It's like having your cake and eating it too.

I like my 65 because the more I do restoring it, the more I am impressed by the little design things in how things work. For 1965, the simple genius of the designs are way ahead of thier time. Hope I get her back on the road before my classic becomes antique..lol

i like the 1974 lesabre because:.....

the front parking lights and rear tail-light lenses wrap around the corners of the car so there is no need for what i call "after thought" side marker lights.

the rear tail-lights require 4 bulbs per side due to the length of the lense and its housing.

the rear taillights have a real piece is stainless steel trim running their length horizontally and wrapping around the corner of the car, not just a silver painted stripe.

the glove box is opened by sliding the release to the right instead of turning it ... also, locking the glovebox is done by inserting the key horizontally and sliding it to the left and removing the key.VERY COOL!.

the doors are huge and have their own red and white interior lights installed near the bottom (new for 74) to help light your way as you exit the car. the car has a total of 8 interior lights ....(and not one above waist high).

the gas door is in the middle of the rear, above the bumper .... so it dont matter which side of a gas pump you pull up to.

the grill alone wieghs about 15-20 pounds and keeps most imports out of the radiator.

since i dont listen to much radio ... i am glad the antenna is made into the windshield and not stickin up somewhere on the car.

i like the windshield wash and wipe button made into the shifter handle (actually a 1973 option).

when the wipers are off ... they are hidden out of sight beneath the hood.

    ............
    .......
... OH yeah!!! its a RAGTOP!!

coming soon... as soon as i get into my new garage ...speakers built into fiberglass kick panels and a subwoofer built into the dash along with the 160 gig/35,000 song (@ 320kbps) capable mp3 player.

  17. 69GS400s

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

    69 over 68 ??

Funtional Ram Air hood - although the "Functional" part may be open to question, I DEFINATELY think the "looK" of the hood is far superior to the flat '68 hood

"400", "350" or "Stage 1" Emblems on hood bulge

Smooth lower fender as opposed to the fake brake cooling inlet

'lever" switches as opposed to thumb-wheels for the temp controls

    Black-faced instrument cluster

    "400" or "350" rear Markers

and the last one - and this goes across ALL GS's

....The Swing-away GS Trunk lock cover - THE Coolest GS emblem on ANY GS :TU:

As far as the Vent Windows go - Yes, I like them, but on a Convert. I prefer the clean lines without them

    Totally '65

The best looking design was the 65 Riviera. I found only 2 problems with the cars, NO 4-speeds and NO convertibles!

So its '65 Wildcats! Last year they offered the 4-speed, second to last for the nailhead and Super Wildcat dual quad engine, and really the last year before many of the safety regulations came into effect-dash styling in 65 still had some serious chrome!

It's BIG, rides unbelieveably well, convertible, 455 Stage

This model basically fell into my lap when I was doing a search on 71 Buicks in Auto Trader online. It was misadvertised with almost no information. I called the guy and he sent me a LOAD of pictures. 2 months later, it was sitting in my garage!

The 71 compared to 72 and 73, I believe, has the best lines. They're all very similar, but the grille, hood, and bumpers really make the difference in the 71.
