Seems to be running normally. Probably going out to Gainesville for a bracket race on Sat. Only 4 more weekends to get it dialed in before the Nationals.
Decided to enter the AACA at Charlotte this past weekend. Win first Junior award on Saturday and then hit the track on Sunday with the club.
I just painted my timing cover and new water pump then polished my Edelbrock valve covers so I can start getting the front of the 455 in the convertible back together. Hopefully this time leak free.
Working on upgrading the look of my dash. Wife found these Chrome markers with different size tips to touch up the bezels. Started with the easy part, the radio bezel. After cleaning. Touched up and added the woodgrain stickers. Tomorrow I'll get started on the dash.
Started the Buchev for the first time since February 9. I have been installing my new TA Performance Aluminum intake manifold. It would likely be a bolt-on in a stock setting, but the throttle and kickdown linkage are non-stock in my application. The mounting boss for the factory AC is a bit different then the stock intake manifold. If anyone here is considering the purchase of the TA intake manifold and are planning to run the stock AC, you need to measure the rear compressor mounting bracket boss very carefully. Mine was about 1/8" higher then stock. If I knew this before I installed the manifold I could have fixed it with a Dremel tool in less then five minutes. As I didn't discover this until after the manifold was installed, it took a lot of hand filing. I didn't want Aluminum dust getting into things like the Delcotron and the manifold itself. The TA Aluminum AFB manifold weighs exactly 19 lbs. I'm going to weigh the stock cast-iron manifold today. I just weighed the stock cast-Iron manifold - 32.9 lbs. Edit: I added the word boss after compressor mounting bracket.
Well today I ACTUALLY epoxy primed the passenger door edges and inside, door frame and trunk top. At least those surfaces won't rust once I move it into my garage.
Pulled the dash....I think the hardest part will be trying to get the speedo cable back in when i'm done..... Cleaned and got all the gauges ready with new LEDs. Made sure they all lite up before installing.
Racing the weather, trying to beat the rain. I changed out one spindle and put on new rotors with 5x4.75" lug spacing, and moved the rear studs to the smaller pattern to test fit some new rims. I didn't mount the rear caliper because the weather was deteriorating and it was fighting me compressing the piston for new pads. Hopefully can do the other side tomorrow, but still need to get the tires mounted. Front. Rear.
Console restoration time. I like baking them in the sunshine after I dye them or flock them. Perfect day for it.
I attended a small car show this morning. My cheap water temp gauge crapped out so I did the right thing and ordered a new set of SW Green Line gauges that'll be here sometime this week. I wired the car for the sending units this afternoon. I was shocked at how expensive SW is, but the Green Lines match the factory tach almost perfectly, which is how I rationalized spending that kind of $$$ on gauges.
What started out as resealing the timing chain cover became a new water pump, cleaning and detailing, TKX 5 speed and today I installed headers. Still waiting for the drive shaft.
