The stock bottom end does hold you back some. Plus you shouldn't push it too hard past 5500 rpm because of it. I see you only have 342 gears. Going to 373 won't hurt you too much. If I remember correctly you have a 4 speed auto so 373 would be good gears for you. If you have a 2500 stall convertor in with the 342 gears it will be hard to get below 1.9 60ft. A 3000 stall with your 342 gears would help out the 60fts. I am getting this now and I have a tight 3000 stall (because of the nitrous use) and my 60 fts have dropped back to about 1.90. I had a loose 3500 stall convertor in with the 350 trans. I could foot brake it to 3000rpm I got as low as a 1.73 60ft. Most of the time I had a 1.80 60 ft. With my 4 speed auto I switched to a tighter 3000 stall because of nitrous and now I can only foot brake it to about 2200 rpm and my 60fts are lower. The looser convertor with a 373 gear will help out your 850 double pumper also. Usually with a heavy car you need to use a vac secondary carb. The double pump carbs do make it a little harder to get out of the hole with low gearing (342) and not a lot of stall under 2500. If you want to stay with your current gears and convertor I would try to find a 850 Holley with a vac secondary, this will get you out of the hole quicker. If you need help with carb tuning write anytime I have a lot of knowledge with the Holley carb. I will help anyway I can without being there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2hrXV0hjTg Mart, here's mine.:bla: Guy, a new converter from PTC is in the future. :TU: I want this car to leave HARD, which I definitely think is possible. Maybe even some 3.73s depending how much my gear man will charge. Damn, gears are fun when you have a 200 trans.
You're cheatin with those cutouts! All my MSD stuff is finally in. Dist, coil, wires, 6A box/ rev limiter. Hope to finally end my ignition woes.:beer
