    I would have to agree that the F indicates 1985. To me it looks like the engine serial number is 9 digits long with the last number being hard to make out. In that case:

    4FH50565x

    4 = Buick
    F = 1985
    H = Flint, MI
    50565x = sequential number

    I don't have info for 1985, but in 1980 Flint built B- and C-body cars had a sequential number range of 400001 to 520971. So it would seam that 1985 follows the same pattern as 1980.

    If that is the case then the block casting number does not match up on the above list??? I will get under the car tomorrow and see if I can get a better look even if I have to use a magnifying glass. I am totally confused on this one. Thanks again, Charlie

    It can't be a 1985 because the oil pan only has 14 bolts. Starting in '85 they went to 20 bolts. Wow this is turning into a challenge. Charlie

    Perhaps its an E instead of an F, that would make it a 1984. See if you can get a rubbing of the engine number stamp, it might be easier to read.

    The number is 4EH505658. Block of wood and fine sandpaper did the trick. Ok what year and model please. Also what site do you use for this info. Thanks Charlie
