That is what I thought as well. Just the early Q-jets have that reputation. They had a weak float design. I have never had a problem with either of my carburetors flooding. My Quadrajet is seamless at the track. See Cliff Ruggles remarks in this thread, https://v8buick.com/index.php?threa...e-do-during-acceleration.253488/#post-2088866
Took the GSX to the local cars and coffee this morning. Here's a pic of the drive there I've been noticing a slight coolant leak past week. At first I thought it was the thermostat housing. But this morning I noticed the thermostatic vacuum switch was soaked and there was antifreeze blown all over the top left side of the engine when i got there. There was even antifreeze on the breather hose. So after my coffee this morning, im going to see if I have a new one in stock. I'm fairly sure I do, question is if I can actually find it. At least it's something simple. I also got tired of my nuts being broken by @dentboy for my napa battery so I bought a topper from Todd. So ill throw that on after I fix the leak Hopefully this is the only bug...
Here Stacy....happy now??? And I got to the bottom of my coolant leak- the vacuum switch was barely hand tight! I took it out, cleaned it up, put some pipe sealant on it and screwed it in tight! So the car will need some extensive road testing now! And the new liquid filled Autometer sport comps are in. I had bought these gauges used a few years ago. The water temp gauge was empty of liquid. I Googled it and found out the liquid is glycerin. A trip to CVS and a syringe later, it's filled back up. They look alot better than the white faced gauges thst were in there.
I'm sure Stacy will think of something else next. Easy fix. Does the TCS work as stock? Those look great. What does the liquid filling do? Damping needle fluctuations?
Right now it's disconnected. I have the vacuum advance hooked directly to ported vacuum. The liquid filled are for environments where there is extreme vibration. I just bought them because they were cheap
You need the angle rings. I have them, and you can point the gauges where they need to be. https://www.autometer.com/2-5-8-angle-rings-pack-of-3.html
Bet you that is from over tightening the dash bezel screw that is there. Not saying that Jason did that though.
Yep, they're all like that. Not sure its from overtightening per se, I think the plastic just gives over the course of decades.
