Everything is back together! Today I finished up the dash. Got the speedo cable in, a/c ducts in, glove box and dash pad. I polished up all the chrome knobs. What a difference! The consolette looks great! J took it for a test drive and the clutch pedal feels like awesome. All the slop is gone. First time driving it with a working tach too! Everything is exactly the way it should be. Every wire is routed correctly, every fastener is correct as per the assembly manual. I even greased the slides on the ashtray!
Very nice Jason. Looks great. Bellmore was a bust, at 5:30, there was maybe 15 cars there. Bruno and I left around then. Tomorrow, there is a huge end of the season cruise in Throggs Neck, right on the other side of the Whitestone bridge. It is from Noon until sundown. It's close enough to me, I'm going to try it. https://www.facebook.com/ThroggsNeckClassicCarCruiseNights/
It was fun but we all kept getting lost towards the end which started to get frustrating, but in the end I loved watched Paul peel out after every regroup spot, I felt like a proper child
I absolutely love the fact you're making the car reliable to drive and enjoy without making it a trailer queen. Seems like everyone always wants them perfect looking but then wont drive them. You're making this thing awesome to enjoy and make memories in. Doesn't seem like you can make great memories with them sitting in a garage under a cover. Great job Jason.
Thanks Ryan. The fun is in driving them. The best cars are the ones with the scratches and scrapes on them. What's the difference I'd you get a few more? Just adds character! I had a friend who owned a T/A Challenger. Car was perfect. Kept it on carpet in his heated garage. Told me he didn't want to change the oil because the paint on the drain plug would chip. Dude...really? Didn't even like sitting in it because he didn't want to put creases in the covers. Honest to God. What fun is that? I just took the X out and put her through her paces. If a rock hits it, who gives a f
Can't see ALL the time, $$$$, blood, sweat, tears, agony, etc. going into this POS. Should of put it to it's proper death by parting it out OR crushing it would have been best. No fun having & NOT driving. LOL LOL LOL Tom T.
And I swapped out the chinesium window cranks for nice, slightly pitted original GMs. You have no idea how sloppy the repros fit. The originals fit so much tighter! And they fit the rest of the interior now.
Big thanks to James weinman for the original hood latch. James gave it to me and shipped it on his dime. I couldn't ask for better friends than the friends I've made here on v8
It's the original "one hole" radiator cover. I took the reproduction decal off. I have one of Dave Johnsons repros waiting in the works
You've already driven the beater and this X car more than the 70 aqua and black 71 you used to own. Good for you, love it!
Only if the trunk one is crooked. Let’s keep things consistent like it was day1 for this car in 1970.
