Ok I need some help with choosing tires.

Shipping prices are to the roof right now:
Ok, I'm checking out how to get some Fresh new Hoosier tires down here.
    For a normal price!

Cause the prices that I have had from different parties to ship these downhere are getting really crazy! :ball:
$955,- including the price of 2 tires and 2 tubes! and the good news is this was the cheapest one untill now, and its shipped by boat.

I found these Toyo Proxes DRR Drag Slick Tires that I can get for a reasonable price new.

I got a email from this dealer that these tires do not use a inner tube.

I was looking for Hoosier 29.0x11-15 tires, but they don't have this size.

    They only sell these sizes:

What will be my best choice to choose?
I have found a set of WELD draglites 10" with 5.5 backspacing.
And also have a set of WELD 8" rims with 4.5 backspacing.

I search the net and I see that these tires are used in the dragracesport with good results it seems.

Does any of the racers here have any input on them?
If not I might try them out and let you all know how it worked out.

Is this a street/strip tire? Drag Slick tire doesn't sound like a street tire to me.

The main reason would be the price paying $955 for 2 tires is getting a really crazy.

These I can get locally, and saves me $455 dollars.

So I'm gathering some info on these tires to see if they work good.

The brands who makes these dragtires need to sell them in Europe to, there are many many racers who need these, and they all have to ship them the same way I do.
So if any of you want to start a shop abroard, include this in your business and call Hoosier, Goodyear, Phoenix, Mickey Thompson and work it out to become a dealer overhere.

    Read this about Toyo:
Founded in the United States in 1966, Toyo Tires has always been known for there performance tires which serves the need for luxury vehicles, high performance cars and trucks & SUV's. Being a huge supporter of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Toyo makes DOT tires as well as slicks.

So no worries about buying from them, mmm?

At least they are smart and have started to sell them in Europe to.

    They sell Drag radials to.

    But I need this:

    Competition Drag Tires

Proxes Drag Slicks & Free-Rolling Tires
The bias-ply, Proxes Drag Slicks provides remarkable consistency, regardless of track temperature, to help minimize changes in chassis setup.

Free Rolling Front Tires feature extremely low rolling resistance and weigh as little as 10-lbs. each.
    Available Sizes:
28.0X9.0-15, 29.0X9.0-15 and 30.0X9.0-15 for IHRA/NHRA "Stock" class, manual transmission cars; 32.0X14.5-15, 33.0X16.0-15 and 33.0X 17.0-15 targeting NHRA Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Stock, Super Street, Super E, Top Sportsman/Dragster and similar classes, also IHRA Quick Rod, Super Rod, Hot Rod, Top Sportsman/Dragster and similar classes.

Sizes for space-limited RWD and FWD sport compact vehicles include a 25.0X9.0-15 and a 26.0X9.0-15. Free rolling sizes include 25.0X4.5-15, 26.0X4.5-15 and 27.5X4.5-15.

These are not Street/Strip tires as you can see:

I would say get the 28x10.5 or the 30x10.5.

I hope they turn out ok for you. Toyo seems like a good brand of tire.

The Toyo's work great. I had the best 60' with these. I had one of the early sets that had no lettering on them. I couldn't run them with the big TOYO on the side like they have now.... If the savings is that big for you, run em.

I picked the tires up last Friday.
I went with the 28.0x10.5-15 tires, they even pair match the tires so you have the same size/rollout diameters.
The Toyo tires look like good tires, the compound feels and looks like the MT Drag slicks compound.

I'm sure they will work very well.

I have the Toyo tires without the white lettering.
And the production date was 2009 so they are fresh ones.

    Tnx for all your input

Yes, thats the reason I can get these close to home for a much cheaper price then I can get any other tire from the States.

So because of that, AND BECAUSE these are MADE IN THE USA I don't see any problem with buying these, so do your homework first before claiming its not made in the USA so do not buy it.
There are many things not being made in the US and you buy them every week!

And for your knowlegde I have asked the other brands who sell "normal" street tires ovehere, to pickup this market and sell there Dragtires here also.
Untill this day they haven't done this, so I think they do not want to make any $$....:Dou:

Are any tires made in the USA. I have heard that Firestone and Bridgestone ( same company )
are made in Japan. Even though Firestone are an American brand. Doesn't most rubber come from Malaysia?

You support your country your way , I'll support my country my way.. I know that every product I purchase can't be made here in my country, but I can and do suport as much American products as I can... For the same reasons I won't purchase Citgo products.. The way I see it is where the bottom line dollar ends up.
As for Toyo seems to me it ends up here

What's the big deal with "japanese" tires? Are they realy that bad or is it something from the past (1941) ? We had similiar things overhere too that time (germans) but that doesn't mean that their products are bad or have to be banned. I drive a Buick GS and mine wife a BMW, I think it's best of both worlds. And all the other stuff I buy; mine clothes are from Tommy Hillfiger, Ralph Lauren, Gant, Hugo Boss and I smoke Cuban cigars and they all aren't Dutch products. The Netherlands doesn't produce those Items so I can't support mine country but In LIKE THE BRANDS AND QUALITY and that's why I'm buying them ! Nothing less nothing more
And if someone can safe up to 455 $ then I think, hell yeah I would do that too.
