A pic of my rubbing pushrod.
That's on the passenger side of the Buick.
You can clearly see the rocker arm is a straight version. Vet

Update: Got my LH rocker arm from JEGS just 10 minutes ago.
JEGS, screwed up to. Sent me a straight version. I give up, Rock Auto screwed up twice.

Isn't the pushrod suppose to spin from the lifter?
I have to check that. I know the rubbing isn't serious. But, I still don't like it. Vet

Apparently no one makes the right R and L rocker arms. Have you checked with TA Performance? You will get the right parts from them.

They only sale them in a set for the entire engine valve train.

I only need 1ea. Very frustrating the vendors don't know right or left and don't know Buicks.

Start a thread in "Parts Wanted". I bet there are lots of them out there. I'll check with Bruno Jr. Maybe Bruno has some in the garage.

Just so everyone knows, when I ordered the LH rocker from JEGS. It came to me directly from the factory (mulling).
Had the correct part# event with L included.
What was different was no stamp to mark it Left hand.
    I received a straight version.
It's pretty bad when the employees don't know what part to package to ship out, even though they are reading the part number or don't take the time to open the rocker box to make sure it's the correct part. Vet

Thank you Larry, I can live without the LH rocker.
I will just drill the pushrod hole a little larger. Thank you for your help and response, it's appreciated. Vet

Don’t do that, I’m pretty sure the rockers are the same 350 and 455, if so I’ll send you what you need FREE.
I have some just sitting in a shoe box in my garage.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Have no problem paying for shipping and the price of the rocker.

I have to say, I have met a lot of very nice people from Ohio. You're the best. Really appreciate you going out of your way for me.
The pushrod thanks you too, no more rubbby dubby, Lol. :D

    Your welcome Vet;)
I’ve had other members on here do the same for me, so I’m more than happy to “pay it forward”
That’s what makes V8 Buick and its members awesome :D

Got the rocker arm (LH) this afternoon along with the 4 buttons.
    Thank you so much.
    Finally, the correct rocker arm.

It amazes me how I can get the wrong rocker arm 3 times in a row, iwhen it has the same part number as yours. Melling MRK-542-L. Vet

Neat tip on installing the buttons...the nylon can become brittle with age, and sometimes the barbed point breaks off. But, nylon is hygroscopic, meaning it has some affinity to absorb moisture and soften.

Soak in hot water for an hour before installation; this reduces the potential for breakage.

    Thanks for the tip Devon.

FYI: as a machinist I have machinist, I have machined a lot of nylon. In fact, I realized nylon absorbed moisture. I also read up on this issue because the electrical engineers I was working with wanted to use nylon as an electrical enclosure, until I told them it absorbed moisture and installing their electrical equipment (circuit boards) would cause a huge short circuit.

I was very surprised that our electrical engineers had no clue about what types of plastics absorb are don't absorb moisture. Normally we fabricate electrical components out of aluminum and anodize it.
The anodize coating is an excellent electrical non-conductor. Vet

    Agree, good tip.
Another; when reusing rubber gaskets (or anything rubber) that expanded from oil, gas, etc, soak them in oil dry to reduce them to normal size. We’ve done this on two stroke engines which uses rubber o-ring head gaskets when some new ones aren’t readily available. Like at the track
It only takes a few minutes…

    Awesome, glad you got it;)
The box the rocker was in I’m not sure if that was the original box it came in as I have like 20 or more stock rockers and boxes.
Just proves some people don’t care to do their jobs with any pride, some people just don’t care or are just stupid

Update: Here are ALL the rocker arms I bought from Rock Auto and Jegs, that are wrong with the exception of one rocker arm, very frustrating.

    #1. RH Rocker arm #1.jpg
Originally, I thought I needed a RH rocker arm and ordered it from Rock Auto and got the correct RH rocker.
Only to find out, I made a mistake. Found out on our forum I needed a LH rocker.
Nice looking rocker. Further below, there are going to be some very ugly ones.

    #2. Stright Rocker arm #2.jpg
I ordered a LH rocker arm from Rock Auto. Notice that it's stamped with LH and has a different part#.
This turns out to be a straight rocker arm. Rock Auto's first mistake.
No whereas nice a surface finish as what Mark sent me and had LH stamped when it's a straight version.

    RH Rocker arm #3.jpg

#3. Ordered another LH rocker arm from Rock Auto again. This one is stamped RH and is the wrong order.
    I ordered LH, Rock Auto's mistake #2.
Nice looking rocker arm, just the wrong one.
This time I changed vendors and ordered a LH rocker arm from Jegs.

    Stright Rocker arm #4.jpg
    #4.
Ordered a LH rocker arm from Jegs.
Notice the Part#, it's correct, again, it's the wrong rocker are, it's the Stright version. Mistake #3.
I was surprised to see the rocker arm that dark of a color. No whereas nice a surface finish as what Mark sent me.

#5. Mark Demko offered to send me a correct LH rocker arm plus 4 nylon buttons and send it cost free.
I said thank you very much. What a great guy.....
A great reason why I love this forum. People helping each other all the time.
Finally, got the rocker arm I needed, and it had the correct part #.
JW was right, the vendors quality control is so bad it's hard to believe. In fact, the one I ordered from Jegs came directly from Mulling and they can't get it right either. Great to be on this forum, you guys are the best. Regards VET

I saw these before on a teardown of a GM 6.2 diesel on DeBoss Garage on You Tube and thought “wow they look like Buick shaft style rocker arms”
Leaves me wondering if Melling was getting their inventory mixed up.
