The year before I built my house I get a call from my future neighbor (who built his house the year before) that my vacant lot (grass and tree filled) was causing his driveway to flood when it rained:Do No: .. The funny thing is that his driveway sits at least 6 inches higher than my lot did and all of the drainage sloped away from his lot. He then went on and told me that I should do something with the lot because "wild animals" were living there... It was a woodchuck :puzzled: .
After I started building my house someone called in a complaint that my house was too high :puzzled: I wonder who called that in...:puzzled:
This guy was nothing but a pain in the butt from day one until he finally moved away (got a divorce  ). The funny thing is that the "woodchuck" is still living in my back yard 9 years later and the neighbor is gone

    arrested the dog... that's great!

...so is it illegal to play the sound of Dogs barking from your stereo in the backyard?

A dog barking, go figure..That's what they do. If someone tried to take my dogs they'd get to see what my automatic weapons look like and I'd get to see what their insides look like.:blast:

We have had an airport in our town since 1960. People move here now and start complaining about the noise of the airport!

It's not just the police but HOA's. I live in a subdivision that has a 48 hour limit for RV's, trailers, boats to be out. Most people abide by this. We have a couple of owners that have boats they store in the garage. Come spring they come out and stay out. I give them a couple of days and then complain. I can't keep my camper at home and to pay to store a camper and a car trailer makes getting the car trailer to expensive. Pushing the 48 hour limit by a day or two if someone is visiting or you are winterproofing your boat that is not kept at home all year is fine. We are all neighbors and have to get along. These rules were in place before anyone moved in so no one can complain about that. We have more equally assinine rules too, like what color you can paint your house and having to get approval for any landscaping and on and on. I have seen a police car in my subdivision I think twice in the 4 years I have been here.

The old cars stay in the garage and a $40 something K new Suburban sits out. Nobody has ever said anything about the cars, but they are all operable, licensed, and in better shape than the beaters some of the neighborhood kids have. If anyone did complain I would really start complaining about some of the deteriorated landscaping, trim that needs touching up and a few other little things that aren't worth starting a fight with but are good for ending or escalating one. I left a Riv out all winter once but it had plate and was movable. Nobody said a word. Most of the guys around here think it is cool to have the old cars, but not many are "car" guys. I even have a guy with a Lingenfelter Vette down the street. You know who's house I leave the black stripes in front of.

Some place a strict. An old buddy lived in a park where if you came out an found a falt tire, you had to have it towed away to be changed. You were not allowed tp wash your car unless you used the well water hose. THey were told how many of what kinds of plants they could put in their garden and no portable basketballs hoops allowed.

They also did thing like telling people the screws on their trailer were to rusty and you have to replace them all with new shiny screws. Painting them was not allowed.

just uncork the exhaust. Did that with my Delta and it really made the neighbors mad. I was replacing the exhaust and wanted to hear it with open manifolds (at 2 AM)!

My neighborhood also has a Home Owners Association, but it has not been enforced and I have lived here over 3 years. A couple of houses over, there was a huge motor home parked on the front driveway. A family was living in it over the summer, and it even had a satelite dish on a tripod in front of it.
It didn't bother me a bit. They had family visiting. What really bothers me is when the neighbors are grinding and welding until 2 in the morning. That was a bit much. Nobody called the police on them! They did it for weeks.

I hate neighbors that call the police instead of coming and talking to you about it sensibly. Try working on a car on an Air Force base. We can't even change our oil! I just did a complete motor and tranny swap and nearly got my head chewed off by my supervisor for it! They are all so anal.

    It happened here too!

Someone had called and complained about an "abandoned" car at the curb.
They were referring to my Wildcat which has been here for about a month now.
The funny thing is that I've been driving it at least every other day since I brung it home.
That is untill a brake hose sprung a leak last night. :af:

I'd love to find an abandoned dual quad '65, that would make my day.

Yeah, that's about what the officer told me after we had got to talking cars for awhile.
    :TU: :bglasses: :beer
It looks like it's gonna be parked untill I can find some new hoses. :(
PepBoys can order them for me and have them next week. :gt:
Anyone here able to get me some sooner? :Do No:

    This is a true story.

Two houses ago I had the city code guys and the cops at my house every week for a couple of months as we played the "park and move the Sportwagon game" to avoid the eyesore/abandoned car rules of the city where I lived. The car was my main source of transportation and had a loud but sweet set of duals on it. The person that complained had called the city and cops on about 10 neighbors for camper trailers, boats, changing oil in the driveway, etc. The neighborhood was fastiduously clean and nice with no reason for any complaints. Two nights before I moved he snapped at me how happy he was he would not have to call the cops anymore about my crappy old car.

The next night before I moved out I left a grenaded 350 Buick motor square in the center of his driveway, dripping oil and looking disgusting.

I admit it was foolish and petty but I was way younger and it felt really good.

Good for you Chris.:TU: You did what I have thought of doing. I see my Jackass Neigbor will be throwing a party this weekend. The rental company is unloading a whole lot of chairs and tables. Should I call the city on him?

Well...You never know. Sometimes noise violations crop up when you have a big party or parking rules are violated, etc. You can bet just about everybody does something that could be enforced by their municipality if a person was to voice a complaint.

If the rulebook can be used against you it can be used against him I bet !

Not just yet, wait untill the party is in full swing.
That way you too can complain about all of the cars in the 'hood.
