My boss knows I'm a car nut, so she asked my opinion on what SUV she should buy. She is looking at the Cadillac SRX.
    A couple things to consider-
    She won't be towing anything.
    She is very short.

    What would you guys suggest?
Her husband told her she could have any one she wanted!

    Short, no towing, no 4x4ing?

That's easy, the answer is: A Station Wagon.

Safer, cheaper, better milage, easier parking, easier entry, easier to load kids in and out of, better acceleration, better braking, cheaper insurance, better resale.

    Wait... they're unfashionable...never mind...

infinity fx 35 and 45. hmm... simmilar to the nissan murano but with a lot more balls. its basicly a car.

the volvo wagon/utes are pretty decent and have good performance but no style.

I'm pretty sure she's looking at the small SUV's for hauling her dog around to shows (and probably because it's trendy).
What about the Lexus RX-330? (forgive me, all of you american car people. All 3 of my daily drivers are GM).

Oh yeah... and she's looking for all wheel drive. Forgot to mention that.

My wife drives the Lexus RX300. It is our second one. The first one allowed my wife and little boy to escape from a nasty vehicle totaling accident without a scratch and with no financial penalty; actually got more money from insurance than the vehicle was worth. Couldn't do that with a GM! I have nothing but the very best to say about this vehicle. We drive it in deep snow somewhat regularly and are most impressed with its traction. These come with a very sophisticated traction and skid control system that lets you know when it is working. I've tried to spin snow donuts in empty parking lots and can't get it to break loose.

In three years and 30k miles it has never been to the shop for warranty work. If you ever do need service, you can only expect the very best treatment from Lexus. I refuse to purchase vehicles from companies that can't keep vehicles out of the shop. Are you listening Bob Lutz?

We'll be connecting with the RX330 in two more years unless something better comes along.

    4runner

Well here's my 2 cents... I have to say I LOVE the new Toyota 4Runner. Test drove one when they first came out. It was very difficult to talk myself out of signing the dotted line for that one!! Great accelleration and handling, nice interior... plus it's supposed to be great offroad.

    station wagon???

Oh yeah, if she decides against the SUV route and decides to go for a *gasp* station wagon, she should check out the VW Passat, they make a AWD version. My girlfriend has an '02 wagon and that's our daily driver. Very roomy (more space than a lot of SUVs), luxurious and the V6 is zippy. We've been pretty happy with it-- has 51K miles and it has been very reliable so far.

Drives like a car, and has the room of an SUV - very peppy 3.5L 6 banger....and all wheel drive!

Well working at a Buick / GMC dealership I have to say either the GMC Yukon Denali, or the Buick Rainier. Both are VERY comfortably equipped. The Denali is a little on the expensive side stickering at about $50k +. But you get a BUTT - LOAD of options. The Denali sits nice and low and has a nicely styled (IMO) side step. But then again Buick is where better cars are built.......and wouldnt you really rather have a Buick?

If Supercar Station Wagons are allowed to play, both Mercedes and Audi are set to offer their Supercars as Wagons real soon.

The Mercedes will be a Wagon version of the E55 AMG they now offer, while Audi's Wagon will be derived from their RS-6....which is winning every race in Europe.

Both will feature somewhere's around 500HP :Brow: :eek2: :Brow:

I dont know.........hmmmmm......it wasn't too long ago and i seen a 1970 buick sportwagon with a 350ci/315 horsepower and the guy called it a "monster-buick" because it had monster truck wheels on it with a raised suspension and had monsterous shocks on it. It was pretty sweet looking. It had all kinds of buick stuff on it, like the GS 350 motor with 315 horsepower and the GSX paint scheme, and the guy said it was estimated at 345 horsepower due to the dual exhaust flowmasters and k&n air filter and because he had it bored and stroked out i dont know how much. so he said it was estimated at 345, and not much more/less. It looked like an suv only it had monter wheels and tires on it and I think he said it had a 6 inch lift on it too. That would be a nice car for her. But some guy in missouri won it, it was on ebay, and i forgot who won the auction, but whoever it was won it for 16k's. it looked like a mean-machine. "fast":3gears: :TU:

    welp..

    I have a 2004 Touareg
    4.2 310hp V8, AWD and low range
    all the toys, except navigation

I have owned 2 Tahoe's, and 3 Suburbans, and this thing runs circles around them, other than my dually, it's the best pulling vehicle I have EVER owned.. rated to tow 7713#

We also have 2002 X5, but the Touareg wins hands down. I have 4 boats now, up to 22', and pull all of them with the Volks. Hell, I just pulled my 20" open car trailer with the Volks. My 22 Donzi weighs about 5000# loaded including trailer and I can pull it all day long at 80+ with the cruise on. 6 speed tranny is ultra trick. One drawback is the hitch was $1050 installed, but it weighs 155# by itself:Dou:

The only bad thing, is the car is ultra smart and has WAY too many features for me, such as a warning buzzer if any one tire gets 1 psi out of spec of the other 3...

Lincoln Aviator was my second choice.
