I thought I wanted a stripe on my R/T. I hadn't seen a RR1 Burgandy car with a white stripe till Diego e mailed me a link to this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&item=4507669497&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT This is the color combo of my car, But mine did not come with a stripe. Do we like the white stripe or not? I've always wanted a 1968 car because of the double Bumble Bee stripe, But I'm thinking I might not like it?
Personally, I like the stripe on those cars. My buddy has a '68 'Bee that is gold with black stripes, and it is very cool looking. 451 with steel wheels and button caps. Those are cool cars. :TU:
I prefer it with the stripe, but it would still look good without one. How is the project coming along ?
Stripes I can't get into liking stripes. My Hanes, whether they be grey with white waist band, burgundy with same, Navy Blue, black (for special occasions), or just plain old white.........just don't look that good with the brown stripes in the back. My vote is......no stripes.
It's going onto the rotiseree in a couple weeks. Probably another month at the body shop. Got the DANA detailed and ready to go. Engine is ready to go. I might go ahead and pull the heads off to take a look. Only thing keeping me now is money. The body work cost me more than anticipated :af:
Hey Wowk............. what happened to the red stripe idea I thought we had agreed upon the last time you had this "pick my stripe color" poll? We decided any weenie could take the safe way out and use white, but the red will be a much neater contrast, along with the redline tire's :Smarty:
Which one of you 'puter genius' can photoshop the white stripe to red in one of those e bay pictures?
Kind of fuzzy, but you may get the idea~ Actually, not that bad looking at all. Use either the red, or the white bumblybee. The black stripe would get lost in that maroon. Check attachment...........
I think either stripe would look good. :beer I also own an RR1 Coronet, it's a project on the rotisserie 383 auto '68 Superbee (it's been put on the back burner while I do my FAST F6 Bee!!??) with a white stripe that originally came with black interior and a black top. My '68 Roadrunner is RR1 also, but it's got maroon interior with white seats and door panels, which I really like, so that's how I'm going to do the '68 Bee and I'm not reinstalling the vinyl top. What color are you doing the interior of your car? I think maroon or red interior would look good with the red stripe. Just a thought. Wayne
I'm not sure why you're not talking about a black stripe. That'd be my first choice. After reading the ebay ad I'm totally amazed how many of these they made.
10,000 seems like a lot. Similar to the GS numbers. I thought the Coronet R/Ts were much lower production than that. I had a buddy with a 67 Coronet 318 & 70 Cuda 383 4spd back in 70 - 73. The R/Ts were few and far between where I lived. His Cuda was pristene until he buried the front end into a tree. I drove a 1953 Dodge Coronet from 70 - 72 (3spd column shift 6 cyl), and can guarantee you it was not an R/T.
I sometimes question that high number as well. At the Mopar Nats I only counted a handful of 68 R/T's and at the Chrysler Classic there was onle ONE!
From Galen's White Book: 1968 Coronet R/T Hardtop total production 10,280 Hemi 4 speed 100 Hemi Auto 119 440 4 speed 1,983 440 Auto 7,751 1968 R/T Convertible total production 569 440 4 speed 88 440 auto 431 Hemi auto 8 Hemi 4 speed ONE! Made :eek2:
Did you see the Maroon w/white stripe '68 Hemi Bee in the car corral? That was a really nice car. I knew they didn't come with red interiors in '68, but it appeared that you weren't too concerned about keeping your car 100% correct to the fender tag. :beer Wayne
