Dyno session went great! We first broke in the engine, dumped the oil and let it cool and inspected the filter. With a fresh filter and oil we did about 3 pulls using my old 2" Hooker headers and without the vac pump working, Then 4 more pulls with the pump and 2" headers. Also have to note it was raining outside with 100% humidity in the high 80's. After a few timing changes and jet changes...

Best was 751.2 hp at 6800 rpm and 639.2 torque at 5800 rpm

GOAL ACHIEVED!.....we then installed custom 2 1/8" headers made by Rob Chilenski of Stage One Auto and did 3 more pulls.

Best was 779.8 hp at 7000 rpm and 654.3 torque at 5500 rpm. Rob's headers added about 30 hp! THanks Rob I'll take'em:grin:

vac stayed about 9-10 inches, oil pressure was like a ROCK at 85 pounds.

    The sheet is below.

Rick, you gotta do better than that with the dyno sheet. What happened to it?

    Rick,

This is great news. I am very happy to hear it went well and you achieved more than your goal of 750 hp!!!

So.... Now I have a few questions. 779.8 hp at what timing? Did you check the cranking compression? What were your EGTs? Did you get a chance to try Doug's carb?

The air you dynoed in surely wasn't the greatest of air so I have a feeling you will be very very close to that 796 number

So... now a guess for the track.... Mid 9.30s on normal days.... 9.10s on a good east coast day.... 8.99 on a great east coast day???

    Hey Doug...

Was this Rick all day

Looks like that motor will like a looser converter?

That dyno sheet looks like a victim of celebration.....You better check on him Doug

Sorry Doug I'll have to play around with it to get it darker.

    Like to thank:

Jim Weise of Tri Shield for all the great work on the heads and intake.

Steve Reynolds of SRE for a super oiling set-up system.

Mike Tomaszewski for his Stage 1 TE heads and letting go of one of those ...:Brow: SP 2 intakes plus all the rest of his parts.

Rob Chilenski of Stage One Auto for building the engine combo, setting up the car and for those custom 2 1/8" headers. And getting it to stay together and run the numbers!

and Doug...moral support and being a good friend...plus your extra 6 gallons of race fuel:laugh:

its been a long road of ups and downs but its finally running and ready for the track.

    Thanks again!

John the best it ran was with the timing at 36, it slowed at 38 and under 36. We ended up jetting down to 92 square on the 1050. We were about to bolt on an 1150 that was at the shop but the water pump on the dyno (not the engine) was squeeling all during the session, it let go when we were cooling the engine down and had the carb ready to go. The floor of the dyno room flooded and we had no replacemnet pump, so we called it a day.Compr. is about 13.45 I will check with Rob on the cranking compression, we didn't do it there. As with times at the track...well no doubt my old 9" 4800 stall convert will have to go, when the rest of the combo is set and IF the suspension doesn't need that 4-link (Doug has been breaking my onions on doing it) Let's say my original goal was 750 hp in a 3,000 pound car, need to shave off another 70 or more pounds to reach that 3,000 pound weight, to reach the 9.20's. The next step is on the track.

Gary & Doug I uploaded a better scan of the dyno sheet see above post with it.:TU:

Hey Rick, congrats on the good numbers!! I'm glad to hear that the pump setup worked well! I knew it would! I'm sure you will find the next weak link in the car, that's how it works!

    Have fun! Steve

Rick and Rob C. Congrats on a project seen through to completion, it is sometimes hard to see the light at the end or the tunnel, however you saw it through and produced a very nice product. See you all in Salem!!

    Rick,

By any chance did you guys do a test between regular oil and synthetic?

No John, we didn't. We first used a break in oil before we did any full throttle pulls. We dumped the oil and cut open the filter, everything looked good. So we put in regular oil as the rings haven't seated yet. In fact on the first pull the vac guage was on 3 after each time it kept climbing and towards the last few pulls we saw the rings were seating as the vacuum was staying at 9-12.

I am sure with synthetic it would pick up some more HP. Synthetic is definately going into it now that the engine is broken in.

Rick, what type of oil filter will you be using? I really like the System one Filter. it is washable and you can easily check it at any time without cutting it open.

Congratulations, Rick!!!! I know it's been a long time coming, and the numbers don't lie. Make sure there's some pics of the first run down the track!

By the way.......Beth says she wants a ride (in the car!), but with the fastest car she's ever been in being a stock GS, I'm afraid I'd have to bring along a change of pants for her!

    VERY COOL, Man!:TU:
