I did not have the trans line issue. I am running a 200 4R so I loose the vacuum modulator line. Also I am not running a 1050 dominator. I am running a 4150 Quickfuel. As for the Ass Dyno. I can feel the difference in the car on the low end. I still need to tune the carb for the new intake.
Phil you won't regret it, I had a holley 650 cfm spread bore dbl. pumper ran good . When i installed the QFT 850 with annular boosters there was a noticeable difference.
Thanks Walter, I am working on a few fuel system upgrades. I am running a 750 QFT. It is a great carb but feel I am leaving a little on the table with the smaller carb.
Marty, My Motor started out with an 850 demon (old style). I could never get the carb to idle at low RPM but was a fun carb at off idle. I needed something a little more dependable at idle so I bought the 750 QFT. Which I could still run the bowls dry at WOT (pump issue). I am currently getting ready to replace my factory feed line with a 3/8" line, putting in a new fuel pickup, and will be running a fuel pump built by ROBBMC. This should suit the needs of the motor. After those upgrades, I will replace the 750 QFT with an 850 QFT. All while working full time, MBA full time, and family needs. College finishes this fall (finally). So I will have more free time to play with my cars.
You got to love the sound of a Qjet opening up the secondaries. It sounds like you are going to suck the hood through the carb!:TU:
What jetting do you have in the 750 ? My Motor started out with an 850 demon (old style). I could never get the carb to idle at low RPM but was a fun carb at off idle. There was a guy on here a few months ago that sold Quick fuel carbs at near cost. I messaged him, never got a reply. Don't know if his mail was full or not. I got my Demon to idle pretty well, considering my cam specs. They are sensitive. Can't have the secondary blades open too much. I haven't had any time to hit track with dual plane, install my SP3 or fish much. Got second home being torn down on the 20th. New one to follow. Busy.......plus the rain on every past test & tune Saturday.
Hey Phil, Didn't Jim and you have a big carb on it at first when dyno'd, like I remember maybe a 950?
[/QUOTE] Thanks. I have a older apd 950 hp with a 750 base plate. They say it flows in the lower 800s. I am at 75-81 I need to get to the track but this seems to run better than the quick fuel 950 i tried.
I look at it this way... If 750 cfm came stock, then you hot rodded it up, you need to hot rod your carb too.:laugh:
LOL, here we go, may as well upgrade to a roller cam too as long as Im gonna have my intake offou: Note to self "just say NO"
Question tho, When I do install my SP3, Im going to install my vacuum gauge to see of it reads near zero at WOT. Is that a valid test to see if the carb is a restriction CFM wise or no?
