The touch strip is kinda weird. You really have to spend time setting up this unit and then leave it alone.

    THe sound is great though.

In my Blazer, I put in the 9853 to replace an old JVC unit and the sound difference was instant. :TU:

Yep, there doesn't seem to be a fondness for the glidestrip, I was going to wait for the 2006 line, but then I read a bunch of reviews, here's just one of them:

The most disgusting fact about the new 2006 Alpine headunits is that all but the $1600 one now lack the time correction and parametric equalisation engine. This feature was the reason why most '2004 and '2005 Alpine headunits were just SUPERIOR to the ones from any other manufacturer on the same price level, but they no longer are.

You will do a favour to yourself if you can get a 9855 or any previous model (9835) witn parametric eq. and time correction. These features when properly used allow to get the real juice from any car-audio system

I don't have any more shots of the pod. Sorry Bill. As for the build on them, it was a typical 'shape with foil' fiberglass setup.

The parking brake was never an issue...I don't have one. :Do No: Never did. Maybe the previous owner took it out.

I did have to move the 'bright' light button a bit.
