It has 40 pounds at idle? That seems too high.. What RPM do you idle at?

Sorry...sometimes I go back and re-read what I've wrote and it does sound like I've spoken in "absolutes"...not my intentions though.:)

It probably has to do with the fact of your using the steel shim factory intake "bathtub" gasket vs. my using composite gaskets. I smear a light coat of white grease on both sides of the gaskets around each port and around the water passages. This seals them very good and allows me to reuse them many times without leaks.:TU:

    OIl pressure

40psi at idle? Or is that set to be as high as it goes? YOu better hope you have 70psi going down the track or you'll be picking up piece of your motor and pushing your car. :Do No:

What is suppose to be the oil pressure at idle. It is 40 lbs idle have not checked if it is higher.

    oil pressure

Get the motor hot at least 180 and let it run for about 5-10 mins. Rev the motor to 2000-3000rpm and see what the oil pressure is. Try to get it to 70-75 psi. Don't worry about idle too much. Do you have a standard oil pump or the high volume pump with the longer gears?

I have the booster plate on the motor. I changed the oil pressure gauge and it reads 25 at idle 1000 rpms. I will change the spring in the motor. Another thing where is the timing suppose to be set at. It is showing me the potetial of a 6 second machine but has not tried it on the track yet because I have to have it fine tuned and things. I still need some rollers for this motor.

    alec296 i need another buick

did you plull the plugs to see how the engine is running?
you might have a clean plug(possible water in cyl)
burned or blistered could be a lean burn that could burn up rings.
    maybe try a compression test.

I have gotten the motor tore down and it was the oil pick up that had fell off into the pan once again. I need to know how to get this thing solved.

If it is just the pickup tube that is falling off then clean the bolts and holes with solvent and loctite them in place.

If you notice having problems with other bolts staying tight then you have a balance problem and need to get you rotating assembly rebalanced.

I have gotten the pistons and things out of the block. The pistons won't rock on rod it wiped the camshaft out busted two lifters. I want to have it back together in two weeks but I want to get a camshaft ground for this motor. Are there any suggestions on the camshaft that is to be ground for this motor.
