Sequential port fuel injection?

Has anyone got a Buick engine with modern style sequential port injection? If so was it a custom setup or did you find an aftermarket setup? I would really like to avoid a blow thru carburetor if possible and I feel like fuel injection would be ideal in a boosted engine.

I know someone on this board, maybe Jim Wise IIRC, was in the process of doing a multi port system. I was thinking about it but the cost on top of build I’m doing would have crushed my wallet. Was going to have my machinist install a crank trigger but he didn’t get to it before passing. I do have a Super Sniper with in tank pump so down the road when I get board it wouldn’t be difficult to do. I’ll have O2 sensor bungs in both headers.

The 215 is the only v8 engine from the muscle car era that has a ported and railed fuel injection system that was designed and built by the engineers.

Sure, done a couple of them.. SEFI, coil near plug ignition.. Holley HP/Dominator system

There is no "kit" for any Buick engine... Injector rail mounts, coil mounts, crank trigger are all custom items.. cam sensor is from a 3.8 with the 455 gear installed.

Here's a boosted one.. and your correct, FI of some type is a good idea for anything boosted.

I think I'm going to use the MegaSquirt 3 ECU with MS3X Expansion. Crank trigger is easy as are the coil brackets and injector rail brackets.

I really wish that Accel still made the dual sync Buick distributor, as I understand it these would give you crank signal, cam signal, and ignition in one unit. Sounds nice and easy!

I wonder how hard it would be to add mini crank and cam wheels to a regular distributor...

If interested in going the Holley Dominator, ECU route I have a barely used ECU with the latest software installed by Holley on yellowbullet.com under the electronics section if you’re interested. You won’t get a better price.

I wonder if the Holley dual sync distributor would work? A crank trigger with a modified distributor or V6 cam sensor would also work.

I went multiport injection back in 2009. Megasquirt 3/3x. I've got a set of TA Aluminum valve covers on the shelf and universal LS coil brackets that I'm going to switch to at the next long over due engine refresh.

TA Performance SPX with injectors, LS coils, Ford Escort trigger wheel, cherry hall effect sensor and box tubing for the crank sensor. Modified points distributor as a cam sensor.

I've got crank sensor figured out. Have a 36-1 trigger wheel and making a bracket for the sensor using the fuel pump holes and a block off plate with locating pins.

AFAIK Holley doesn't make a Buick dual sync? Would be nice though.

That's awesome! Could you shed any insight on what needs to be done to a points distributor to convert it to a can sensor? Just grind off refluctor teeth?

They make a hyper spark not a dual sync. I stand corrected although I’m sitting down. Lol

Yup, pretty much, and pin the advance mechanisms so they don't move, though the vacuum module will technically hold it in place if no line is connected. I originally ground all teeth but one off the pickup and reluctor on an HEI, but pretty regularly if it was slow cranking it wouldn't pick up the cam sensor right away and the megasquirt would run in semi-sequential mode even though a cam signal could be seen when the engine was running. Switched to a points distributor and one lobe and it's been rock steady since and picks up without issue cranking. Since pretty much no voltage runs through the points they never get burned and gap adjustment doesn't matter so long as the points open on the one lobe.

Video when I went to the points distributor.

    Current distributor.

Is it a bare ECU? ( no harness or power leads)

The ECU on holley website list for $2675. The power harness is purchased separately for $86. I have it listed for $1900 plus shipping.

That thing seems like overkill, so probably perfect for Bob.
