Yes, the buick/chev lifter is identical.. but the tie bar is different.

And Yes Mart and Mark have different lifters.. no only is the axle retention different, the body is different.. look at the oil groove..

The only thing unique to each GM engine is the C-C spacing of the lifter bores, So you need the correct lifter tie bar.

Maybe mine are Johnsons.:D They were some of the 1st ones I think.
    C-clip.... that stand for China?:D

I really don't know who made what or when, (plain brown box), but mine were suprisingly quiet .

I think yours are possibly crower lifters Mart... the axle retention looks exactly like a set of crower solid roller lifters I have here.

Could be right Jim. These don't have an i.d. bump in the oil band area like Mark's, and they were smooth sounding.
The rollers in my Z06 make more racket.

THATS what makes me skeptical, Mart says his lifters came in a brown box, mine came in a nice thick plastic "display case" with a heavy foam insert that each pair of lifters were placed in.
I remember back in the 80's, you'd get lifters from Kenne-Bell in a plastic bag LOL.
IF there were some way to get these rollers apart to clean, I would, but:rolleyes:

Oh c'mon Ben, join in on the fun:p
As Tim from TA told me about 350 rollers, "its uncharted territory"

I "thought" AMC might be an alternative lifter, since the oiling system is similar, but they're .904 dia., BUT they have the fully shrouded wheel.
What I may do is go down to Summit Racing, and look, hold in my hand, examine other roller lifters for other makes, as Im SURE Johnson didn't make Buick specific lifters, at least I wouldn't think so, we are such a small market.
I gotta a bee in my bonnet now, I gotta find out:D

So you now have a set of 700$ rollers that are not worth a crap. That you now have to either buy another set or live with what you got. Doesn't this kind of crap just make you want to throw in a LS motor and be done with it.

This stuff is just amazing to me we have a 350 and you want to be different but the cost to be different is really costing a bunch of cash then the parts are not quality.

Still can't even get a set of 350 Alum heads and no one knows what the heck kind of problems are going to arise there.

I wish now I would have built a 455 you can at least pick what you want to do with the motor.

I find all of this just plain ridiculous.

If they're like the 455's, you'll also need new pushrods.:(

yes it’s a bitch being different, but this roller stuff is all new to Buick V8’s guess somebody has to be the test mule.
Anybody else going roller cam on their 350’s use JOHNSON LIFTERS

  20. Hey Mark, just letting you know you're not alone. Everything you've been mentioning from low oil pressure at hot idle to noisy lifters is exactly what I've been experiencing. I just had my build completed about 2 years ago and only have a out 500 miles on my roller 350. Thinking this might become an issue sooner than later. I haven't had the time to tear into the engine yet, but I am watching this thread closely for information. So thanks in advance for being the test mule, lol
