Rebuilt engine still using oil

Your rings in number 4 may be hanging up due to carbon build up from the oil burning days, but if nothing else I have seen with that condition the oil drain back slots / holes in the oil ring groove get restricted with crap also , and when that groove can’t drain fast enough you will still get unneeded oil up into the chamber.

As for me if your going to try adding something to the oil to flow out and carbon crap I would drop your oil level down by a Qt and then add a Qt of ATF and then drive the car easy but do try to keep the rev’s above 2000 for some 25 to 40 miles and then drain out the oil and see if it helped out.
Marvel mystery oil to me thin’s out the oil too much, ATF is at least a modified 30 weight oil.

That makes good sense. I am now using rotella t4 10w30. This detergent oil may help with that also hopefully.

    Update:
I squirted over a quart of water with a little seafoam down the carb at operating temperature high idle. Took it for a ride and looked with camera. It didn't seem to do much and still a bit of oil on plug threads.

Toying with the idea of getting engine up to temp and pouring a can of seafoam down #4 spark plug hole at bdc and wiggling crankshaft back and forth a little to get it by the rings. I would then suck it back out with my mityvac and then spin the motor over to clear out the chamber. I should then probably take it on a long drive at varying speeds. I'm thinking it might unstick those rings.

Put in the qt of trans fluid and drive for a few then change oil The trans fluid will clean out the crap I use this all the time to keep spray powder out of the parts on the press cleans all the crap off the chains when all gummed up. Go down highway for an hour then change oil.

#4 Seems to be getting a bit better now I think. Picture at bdc. I'm thinking I'll quit messing with it for a while and just drive. ;)

Yes. Drive it. If you obsess about every little detail you'll never enjoy the car.

No salt on the roads yet so I'm really enjoying it. And really blessed to not be in the middle of pulling the motor out again!........yet ;)

Thanks again to everyone for helping me out!
