I have seen a car with LS swap. a 69. Didn't open the hood but I didn't have too. The sound of it was enough for me. My. 68 beater don't get no respect on the street. Now I had a rice burner pull next to me at 45 and rev his engine. If you have the time I would say do it. It's gm. If you put two 455 in that car it wouldn't sound like that..I never had a powerfull street engine ,never had the need to prove anything. Long as I'm cruising oldie is enough for me. Kids these days wanna show off. Young whippersnappers

    They really do!
It’s all about the sound for them, whether its a fart pipe, a diesel clacking, a turbo whistling or hitting the rev limiter:rolleyes:
I guess if that’s what makes em nut, go for it:cool:

She went into the shop today!! Really thinking about doing a cam swap, lol i have a TA 112 but might go 212 or not idk, anyway just wanted to share the update. I also gave them all the specs and the correct engine paint color too. 3/4 weeks should have her back. I got all the new TA cam bearings, front and rear main seal, larger oil pickup, valve springs and aluminum valves. figure i would let them get the rest. thanks for all the help!

We pulled a TA 112 out of a buddy's 455. It was plenty of power but no sound through manifolds. I have a TA 212 in both my 455 and my 350. I like them. Just a little not-quite-stock sound but no sacrifice of bottom end.

Gonna keep the 112 cam, I did order the stage one valves for my heads. Wondering if I should just keep stock until I can save up for the aluminum ones. Any one have experience with the larger valves on stock heads?

You need to have the intake valve unshrouded in the head to improve flow. Other than that, they are effectively Stage 1 heads. Same castings from the factory.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

There were no Stage 1 350 heads from the factory. You guys are confusing me.

Stage one valves not heads, but they are larger then the stock ones. im just wondering if its worth doing the head work for the bigger stage one valves, or wait to buy aluminum heads from TA

Didn’t read everything. Do the LS swap. Drive it, deal with its every day problems, and enjoy people walking by shaking heads at car shows. Go for it!

My mistake. Forgot we were talking 350. No Stage 1 from the factory. Unless you are going to do some serious porting on irons, I don't think the Stage 1 valves are all that beneficial. I'd build it for the aluminum heads and bolt on a decent set of iron heads. Just drive it until you get a set of aluminum heads. You can work out any other bugs like timing, lines, suspension, etc while waiting for the Al heads.

Update on the motor. It had been rebuilt and was broed 40 over, there was some damage to cylinder so we need to go 60 over. Is this too much? I use the car for cruising and a little fun. Don’t want to do this just to have more issues down the road but also don’t have the biggest budget.

Have them sonic test the bores first.

If your pistons are good, you can likely find another block, bore it .040 and reused the pistons. Save that expense if you have to bore it already.

What damage? 350s are usually pretty gentle on the cylinders. My 91K engine had no ring ridge and honed to standard size.

ill double check today what exactly it was, but he has said there was wear on the cylinder wall and needed to bore it out a little more from the 40 over. I will also have him do the sonic test. Luckily I found a second block local, never had a rebuild, so gonna pick it up today. Its out of a 70 Skylark so hopefully its an SP code motor. So im back on track
