Hey, see that light on the fender just in front of the wheel weld? Whats that called? Side Marker or Cornering Lamp? And does yours work? I have 'em on my 86 and they haven't worked since I've had the car. I've traced the wiring back to the bulk head uzzled: , or whatever you call the place where all the wires go thru the firewall o No: on the drivers side up under the wiper motor. They aren't getting any fire to them, but I don't know what to do once I get to the bulk head. ou:
You're on the money, they are a turning light. They will only work with the appropriate turn signal on. Hence making a right hand turn the right hand turning light will come on for additional lighting for that turn. They'll only be hot with the turn signal on. Give 'er a shot! :TU:
I've tried testing it with the turn signal on to no avail uzzled:. I don't see it getting any power to it and I followed it all the way to the bulkhead. I disconnected that and I think I remember kinda disecting the grease to see which connector it was going to and I tested it and found that the connector thats affixed to the firewall gets power, not the bulkhead, full of grease, side of the connector. Sup with that? that mean I need a new wire harness? This electrical stuff is tiring and time consuming. I don't like this
......AMAZING WHAT WALKING IN THE SUN ALL DAY AT INDY WILL DO TO A MAN... ou: I've never had any of problems with my cornering lights, I may have to take a peak and see where all the leads go.
Quick Updates... I did a little aesthetic work. I straightened out to the best of my abililty the T-type steering wheel. Its going to need a little more work, but I won't be able to do it until I get the wheel recovered. Also added the visor decal, electric fan, hood emblem, and front spoiler.
hint Hey, about that cornering light.... I found that this wasn't working even when I connected it directly to a known hot wire So I disconnected it and I can't find a replacement @ Advance Auto. The passenger side works when I connected it to a known hot wire. So now I just gotta get power to it via the wire harness. Which I still cant figure out :af: o No: RatRoaster: I'd love to get a look under your dash where the bulkhead comes thru the firewall *hint*:Brow:, all that under your steering column, yea all that
Its got to tie into your turn signal somehow, you may have to go into the steering column. I there is a website out there with all the electrical schematics for our cars.......can't think of it at the moment. o No:
try this, maybe http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/images/wiring_images/cruise_directionals_wipers.jpg (couldn't read it very well, but I have a crappy monitor)
car looks great, amazing how quickly it's com etogether. Might considerleaving the flat hood on it just for the "sleeper" factor
Hey RatRoaster, what kinda gauges are those on your A-pillar? I bought a 3 gauge A-pillar pod that looks like yours, from what I can see, and I bought a Cyberdyne digital electric water temp gauge (2 1/16") to go w/ it, but haven't put em on yet. I towed regal to mechanic Thursday. He's gonna change head gasket. He called today and said that he took the heads to be checked and one was cracked so they exchanged it out and also checked the other one all for $156. I wanted a 2 1/16" Tach to go in my A-pillar pod as well, but I can't seem to find one that size. I'd like it to be digital too :bglasses: , but if I can only find it in analog then that'll do as long as its 2 1/16". Has this regal always been garaged? I ask because the dash looks so good, no imperfections of the plastic bezels or the clear plastic covering the speedometer. I was looking under my dash/steering column and I think that the column has been changed at some point. The wires on the column look gross, grimey and greasy uzzled: , but after the column connector, where they come to the connector, they look considerably better on the side that goes to the harness and further up under the dash. This led me to think that there was possibly a lead missing on a connector causing my cornering lights not to come on..... then I went looking @ Advanceautoparts.com and sure enough this is what I found... Parts Search There is a different turn signal switch for regals w/ cornering lights. So I figured that whoever changed the steering column didn't know/care enough about the cornering lights o No: so they just got a regal tilt column and installed it. So I bought part # D6223, gonna pick it up tomorrow along w/ F41 steering gear box and intake gasket and uhm ou: ....steering pump hose. Can't wait to get my car back, I'ma take it straight to www.upholsteryland.com to get the sunroof installed :Brow: , then it'll be :3gears:  Then Paint!!! Bright White, the brightest white I can get. And possibly some white in the clear coat to give it that mist look, like the pics I've seen of some Limemist GS's. Anyway, this post is long enough, lemme know what you think. E.P.
I don't think the flat hood has much of a future.....there are still steel one to be found cheap, but even cooler is that Poston sells a real nice fiberglass turbo hood! Its pretty cool how that front spoiler makes these Regals look so wicked! I'd like to put 'em on PROJECT86 too!
By far Joe gets the babes, I spend way too much time in the garage! Glad you figured out that cornering like deal. The only way to learn anything about these cars is to tear 'em apart and put 'em back together! I've got a couple of cars that need a session in the paint booth. You'll have to get some pics up and start a thread!
that first pic makes mw wanna cry! i did a similar one but i got hit by a big gold volvo semi truck! mine was barly rebuildable. i still wanna try to get a new frame that hasnt been bent. mine was pulled but i swear its off. anyone live near omaha with a good solid g body frame laying around?
