With the close of PROJECT 86, I've started my next project, Project Turbo Blue. This is a drive train swap from my wrecked T-type. I was lucky, and I want to remind everyone how important wearing a seatbelt is. Make sure you wear it, if I wasn't I would not be writing on this forum today.
Here is the T-type as I have removed the entire front clip. I had to cut the front half of the frame off to remove the motor. The motor was into the firewall. That's my brother Joe working on removing the rearend.
Here is another pic of Joe working on removing the rearend. He's got a 7.5 next to him that we will slide underneath the car so we can move it around afterwords.
Here is the car to receive the turbo transplant. I had it jacked up putting on the front swaybar from the T-type. I bought this car in December 2001. I always had a feeling in the back of my mind that it would end up a T-type one day. Looks good with the turbines.
Body bushing time, here's an idea how high you need the body from the frame to replace the front bushings. I am using the "hinge method." I finished the rear of the car first then finished the front.
This is one of the better stock bushings that have been replaced. I bought Energy's Polyeurothane bushings from Summit to replace these nasty things.
I'm a worker :TU: In that second pic that I'm in you can see another vehicle on blocks. That one was rolled. Its on blocks cause those wheels are on my 96 F-150 and I ran out of ugly wheels to replace them. You'll also see a pre-excavator backhoe. It has a 24 foot reach.
Looking good Roaster!!!! I didn't know you had started this project. I'll hafta stop out soon. PS, whatcha doin' with those doors on the T body shell ole buddy? :Brow:
good luck, if you need anything drop me line, I have a pretty good "odds and ends" stash built up over the years.
Thanks guys for the support! :TU: I've been looking forward to this project since the day after the accident. It feels very good to start working on this one. I'm obviously short some aesthetic T-type parts at the moment, and I'm sure I'll pick some up along the way. Right now I need to get my 200R4 over to Vince Janis in Akron for rebuild, get my heads back from the machine shop and start porting them, get the short block rebuilt, either port a stock innercooler or better yet.....track down a front mount as the original was wasted. I also want to remove the AC box and try to find a non AC box. Aquire solild lower and adjustable rear control arms, install my 8.5 rearend and driveshaft. The original radiator was wasted and I aquired from Joe a 3-core from a 79 monte. Depending on my buildup I may due away with the oil coiler. I also need to track down an electric fan. I've got plenty of work to keep me busy in the mean time.
