3:42, with the 2:56 first gear in the Muncie and 28” tire should give me nice performance with not to many RPM on the highway.
New Eaton Tru-track posi unit & Motive Gears assembled ready for install. Heating the bearings to 200F. For 20 minutes In the toaster oven made it easier.
Shouldn't that pic be in the "guys who cook" thread? I've be following the tread very cool.Happy New Year. Chris
Finished up the new rearend posi with 3:42 gears, swapped shocks and new springs and the rear meats mounted, another step forward. 4-Speed installation will be next.
Took seat out in preparation of the 4-speed installation. While it’s out I don’t like how soft it was but the foam is good so I used tie-wire and reinforced all the factory springs and now it suits my butt. Then I hooked up the battery and started it to run all the gas out, gonna put in a new sending unit and clean out the old tank, I don’t want the Stage 2 eating any crap from the last 50 years. Took over 4 hours idling to run out 1/4 tank of gas.
Getting the Skylark ready to pull the motor and tranny, this is all the fluids it takes for a 350 car, rear, engine oil, tranny and coolant almost 5 gallons. Not exciting but another step.
Another step forward with the old motor and tranny finally removed, time to clean, then new front bushing and springs. Lord I dream of a bigger space to work with.
I extremely do not mean any anonymity here. Can you show the “4781” number on the hair horn? It would also help with the post numbers after that. And I would be willing to tell you when that carb was produced by Holley
You said it, look how nice the firewall cleans up with just a damp rag. Even the phosphate on the hinges is like 50 years ago. I glad too because I don’t want to refinish anything, just preserve as much as possible.
This really blows my mind, the bumper inside has zero rust or pitting, the outside is super nice as well.
