It's amazing how a broken exhaust can make people think things too. On my summit, the coupling (some wierd round edge thing that looks like a gatorade bottle cut in half?) after the exhaust comes together is broken apart with half the exhaust going the right way and half going right under the car that makes it sound like it has a nice big cam in it along with the wierd idle it has already (the idle will start to go up then it acts like it catches itself and drops down to a lower rpm making a wierd little *pop* sound as it does). Makes for some wierd stares when idling in front of the movie store. It can be the loudest thing at WOT in first but put the clutch in and it's quiet as stock.

Did you hear how they are referring to their engines now... they called the Dual cam civic motor a V16....lol. I think the correct way to say it would be 16V....

hey man they didnt say v16 they said b-16 as in honda's b series engines like b-18, b-20, b-16 and so on the civic must have been running a jap spec si R motor or an american si motor but the way it sounds costing 10 g's its jap spec i go to the street races alot and with the hondas it seems the hot motors to them are either the h22a prelude motor or integra gsr or type r b18c those motors rev right up to 8500 or 9000 rpm's :jd: not my cup of tea though and they still arent all too fast for the price but i have to admit there are some very fast guys out there running around in crx's with the b18 swap and also some hatchbacks too..

i dont condone rice i just know my enemy well...

Hi Mechacode.... Now about that 78 Z28. I ordered a 77 Z28 brand new with 350/4spd and it was a very fast car. I collected more tickets in that car than any other. Also left the roadway with spinning rear wheels more than a few times. When I sold it four years later every side of the car had been repaired from accidents. I was in my twenties. Traded it for an '80 Corvette.

My point is that they are pretty quick cars and I'd enjoy racing a M3 in my old Z28. I'm not so sure he's blowing smoke in this case.

It's not stock, it's a pieced togethor parts car with a 350 out of a truck I believe. It was originally some rare optioned car w/the radio delete and all that but it has pieces from everything else. In it's case, it looks fast (wide tires, slapper bars, hole in the hood :Dou: , etc) but it's not really. The bumpers are riveted with the inner lip on the outside and a front from another year. (Remember that some guy built this car el-cheapo to give to his son.)

  6. I had a buddy like that years ago..he told me he once had a vega with a olds 455 and that he had put such good brakes on it that if he hit them to hard at above 40 mph the car was prone to flipping over frontwards...another guy i know who obviously doesnt have a pot to pee in keeps telling me he has a rare big block 69 nova with a 4 speed in storage in another town..yet he keeps building the P.O.S pickup trucks that look like Monster garage rejects.. once at a cruise in i had a guy tell me that he had a factory 68 GS in 1966 that he raced..probably had a 3/4 race cam in it...

    Maybe it was Canadian...

Guy I used to work with bragged to me all the time about the 389-tripower, 4-speed 63 Chevelle he used to have.
He blew up the engine racing, but a guy still paid him big money for the car.

He used the money to buy a wrecked Porshe. He put the motor from that in a VW Beetle. Way faster than that Chevy ever was. But the VW got rear-ended it wrecked the engine. The guy who rearened him didn't have insurance, and his own company wouldn't pay out on it because he didn't tell them about the custom engine. So he was stuck driving the rusted-out POS Civic he had then.

    awfully uninformed

A guy i know claimed that his STOCK, UNADULTERATED 2000
honda accord v6 coupe could beat a porsche boxter.

I asked him how fast its ET was and its 0-60 times.
He didn't know what an ET was, but said that it goes 0-60 in
    about 5 seconds....

what a load of crap!

"No !! I bought a WHOLE Cam !! and it wasn't that much more expensive !!"

    :Dou:  :Dou:

yes...I know what a 3/4 cam refers too but its STILL an Awfully vague expression

  13. meanmotor74

    meanmotor74 mmm.....pineapple

Hmm gotta think about the really b.s stories ive heard hmm....

-Stock 86 jeep cherokee w/4 cylinder 3.73's (or may'be 4.11's don't remember only remember it had towing gears) and 4wd has 10,500 ft lb of torque! I asked him if he was referring to towing capacity he said nope it torque. I asked him how this was possible (as semis don't have that much) he said it was because of the 4wd and he said his motor was naturally more powerful than mine because it had a high stroke! I told him the bore and stroke of the buferd 'tree fitty' and he said i was lying. I nearly punched him in the face but i was afraid to get my hand cut on all the rings and studs on his face.
    Other bs
    - 350 olds stock could pull the front of a delta 88 off the ground by 3''
    - 4 cylinder can sound like v8 w/good dual exhaust (some one else said w/ air cleaner flipped over, even on a multi port FI).
    - i can make a chevy a buick by putting buick heads on a chevy (i heard this from a big fat moron who claimed he was a circle track racer and boy was he ever a moron and wouldn't relent in his stupidity oh and i knew this moron didn't know crap because of fact he said buicks don't make torque)

im just curious if anyone else has heard many olds guys really saying how their cars are extremely powerful and saying things that are obviously false. It seems to be common around here for some reason. Oh well what can ya do.

    Chao,
    Patrick

yeah that reminds me of a story. Last year I was looking for a place to store the Skylark for the winter. I call this guy who had an ad in the local paper. his already sold the spot, but we kinda got to talking about what I wanted to store. I told him I was looking to store a 71 Bone ass sotck Skylark 350-2. He told me to be careful about the oil pressure in the motor.... "Buick's oil pans were too small and it would starve the motor every time I turned left, thats why there are hardly any old buicks around nowadys" exact quote from the guy :eek2: :Dou:

    Just remembered another one -

I noticed a local junkyard had a couple of 60's Buicks. They don't let you go back to the cars though. You tell 'em what you want, they go get it. (You drive in on a road overlooking the cars so you can see what they've got)

Anyway, I asked if either had a 4 barrel intake for a Buick 300. The old guys says 'Yeah, we got one. Off the car even. I'll go get it."

He comes back with one from from a small-block chevy. I tell him that isn't the right one. He says:

"They're really all the same. The manufacturers make the runners look different & paint 'em different colors so you think you need a specific one, but it'll work fine." :Dou:

    436'd Skylark Sweet Fancy Moses!!!!!

This isn't a BS story either, but none the less it annoyes me and I need a place to rant :Do No:

Have ya ever heard something along these lines "You'll never guess what I found for my Camaro, I found a Pozi Unit, or a 350, or a door" They make it seem like it was an epic search that took them into third world countrys, Selling their bodies for directions to the parts. More often then not, its a simple junkyard part. I wanna slap these people. The majority of car parts are not hard to find, Esspecially SBC stuff. By the way, This excludes people who are actually trying to find rare parts, or NOS peices. :TU:

I should say that I am actually thinking of a group of friends from back in the day who all had third-gen camaros. a:Dou: :beer

This is a good one i heard. a cop waiting x amount of miles from the Mexico boarder at 2 a.m. sittin there reading his paper all the sudden he hears a whoosh and his radar gun goes nuts he looks around and doesnt see anything. so next night same place right around the same time the cop hears another woosh and his radar goes ballistic. so on the third night he has a buddy cop wait a few miles up the road and around 2 a.m. he gets the same woosh and his gun goes crazy. So he radios ahead and his buddy pulls out and and not 1 minute later his buddy radios back "yea i got him its a black lambo and this guy's got nightvision on"

now that not the normal 600hp bone stock 4 cyl bullcrap story but when i heard it i though it was good.
