I wonder if it is missing the original "California" emblems, since none are pictured.

Isn't that what the GS California's were? A Special Deluxe post coupe with GS badges (in different locations) and GS hood trim plus the 350 4bbl?

Yes, Plus a GS grill. Many of they came with the simulated wood '68 rallye steering wheel also depending on what interior package you ordered.

Hard to tell but the picture looks like it has a standard Special/Sportwagon grill but that could have been replaced over time. The side grill supports are a different color (same as the hood scoop) so maybe it was in an accident at some time and they added the GS hood? The trunk trim would not have come on a Special Deluxe so they would have had to add that also.

    What Ken said...

A 68 GS Cali or Colorado car was not a "GS" by model #. It was a Special Deluxe 43327, with some added GS stuff.

The one GS emblem I always look for on a GS California is the one on the sail panel behind the rear window. If there is a GS emblem there chances are it was an original GS California.

This car doesn't have the GS emblem on the sail panel, so I'd guess it was a Special Deluxe.

I would generally agree with the statement, but it would be difficult to see (in those pics) if there were holes in the outer sail panel (or the quarter panels for that matter) because a vinyl top could hide easily them. If it is a real GS California ..... someone is getting a smoking deal on a likely low rust car. Negotiated a little less ... even a Special or Skylark for parts would be a decent deal.

I've emailed the seller with a couple questions. The only GS CA/CO options I can see would be the GS hood with scoop, and a GS/Skylark grill. I can't see holes for quarter emblems either, besides the sail panel emblems/holes. There should have been quarter emblem scripts, right?

On the contrary, he DID respond! He bought the car from a dealer, World Auto Connection, and only knows what the dealer told him, which was pretty much zilch. He emailed me a copy of the TX title, that showed the dealer name also. VIN is 43327 as expected, make says "Buic". Title says "GSP" in the model field... :Dou:

I responded asking him about any mounting holes showing in the sail panel and quarters for the scripts that would have been present if a GS CA or CO car. No response yet.

I pic or examination of the inside of the quarter panels near the rear marker lights might be the quickest way to tell - there would have been 3 holes for the 'GS' and probably as many again for the 'California' script if it were a GS California as opposed to the standard 'Skylark' script.

Yes, I asked about emblem holes, he has yet to respond to that.

Never parted a 69 GS Cali or Colorado but have dealt with a few 69 GS and all the 69 GS Quarter emblems I have removed had 2 post and only 2 holes.

That's what I had on mine, whether on the sail or quarter panel. The "California" script has 3 posts.
