Pretty disgusting what society has become .. Advise on how to " get away " with a wrong .
How about be a man and take responsibility for your own actions?
This is why we have so many fatality hit & run crashes. Why stick around when someone's dying when you can just drive away...

Kudos my friend, however once you have paid blackmail you will keep paying, you think you got away with a hundy?? - how long have you been married??? It'll all come up again in time for your court appearance if not before

68 in a 30? Go cap in hand as remorsefully as you can, time and place or that kinda fun ain't in a 30.

For heavens sake don't think about how good it felt to mash the loud pedal when you go before the beak, that grin will only get you in deeper.

I'm certain the OP is taking responsibility for his actions. We've all done something we regretted immediately after. Some responses were tongue in cheek. Others were trying to help take a bit of the financial sting out of the event.
I don't think anyone here qualifies to be cast in your last two sentences. One of my best friends was seriously injured in Afghanistan. Blown up by an IED in a Humvee. Came back to the States and was in rehab. Out on a motorcycle in Cali when hit by a car. Guy got out, walked over to where he was lying, turned and got back in his car and drove away. License plate was bogus and they figured he was here illegally. Now his right arm is all but useless. Some "Thank You" he gets for his service. So you don't have to tell me about 'hit and runs'.

One of the great things about living here in the USA is we all have the right to due process. You can always argue extenuating circumstances. If murderers who are obviously guilty can plead not guilty, so can the guy who was just having a little fun with his American Musclecar. I agree that street racing can be very dangerous, but I think we are all guilty of mashing the loud pedal from time to time. Doing it where there are people or kids walking around is a much more serious lapse of judgement than jumping on it in a secluded empty area.

DL, I have first hand experience in being hit and watching the guilty party leave the scene shortly thereafter. I was a pedestrian at the time, and probably lucky to not have any serious, debilitating injuries save for a completely torn ACL.

I was fortunate to obtain a partial license number, which the local Sheriff's dept was able to investigate and locate the guilty party. They had their due process through the court deposition system and I was able to get an insurance settlement.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

I have had many tickets in my day. I will tell you around NC you might get a little understanding from officers if your on a open highway with very low traffic but in town areas that are posted 35 MPH or less they will not give you a break due to high risk of someone getting hurt or worse a child. I do what Jason said a lot I open it up when getting onto the highway. I agree with other here saying you better get a good lawyer or you will loose your license and your insurance will go through the roof.
