I am more that will to give up anything I know. My current motor can run on "pump gas" and runs a N/A type cam . My carb and headers are a bit big to support the added volume of the nitrous and it seems to work well. Both are off the shelf stuff. SO no high compression is needed, no special cam either (308s #'s 267/275 @.050). I have yet to break a motor or blow a head gasket. I'm working on that.......Girdles are a plus but who's to say where the limit is. THere are more that a few that don't girdle there block and are running nitrous or making some big HP N/A. Who's to say you can't get away with a little more block abuse if things are kept to 1/8 mi??? THere has been discussions with more than a few guys here running nitrous on a street trim type cars. THere are also those who do not participate with discussions on this board that spray nitrous. Some running may have to turn in there stock Fel-Pro's for some Cometic head gaskets but this is a bolt on. Stock replacement forged pistons can take 250hp shot and even up to 300 with the right tune up and setup. Every combination will have it's own limitations due to the build-up of the motor. A class like this give guys a chance to step up their current combination to go faster without building a whole new motor and without having to race in a bracket class when they go to the Nationals. Every where I have raced, this type of class gathers the most attention from the wheel standing antics and high energy racing it gives. It's something worth being a part of. Here's a pic of my engine, does it look too complicated??

OK guy's Rick and I have had several emails and spoke on the phone once. I had hoped to have something this year at the nats but was not able to get it around. This year things have started earlier and we will have the time to put it together. I should have a first draft of the rules in a week or so. Jeff and I looked over what Rick had and we are going to do some simplifying and some changes then let you guys take a look and we will adjust from there. This might take a couple of tries but we will get something that most will be ok with I hope. I can tell you now it will be a 10.5 class with any power adder. we just are working on the limits. this class will run at the the first annual Buick Performance Nationals in Bowling Green 2006 :TU:

I like the 1/8th mile idea personally. Should keep breakage to a minumum. Kevin, I know of one other tube car that will be tagged and insured, lol. Outlaw sound fun to me. Maybe toss out some fun passes for the fans. Also, in regards to this class as of now, I do still have my 64' layin' here doing nothing. As if I need another project. Maybe I can velcro in the 350". That way I can go from tube car to 10.5" car haha. Heads up racing is kool, I wanna play....................if I can. I will watch for further announcements.

    Bob,

If I may, I would like to ask that when you guys are working up the rules, maybe keep us power adder, SMALL block, guys in mind too. Maybe a weight deal or something. Of course, I will try and work within the rules yall come up with, but will be 10.5" and boosted small block with the 64" I am thinking now. I will be watching also.

And a BIG THANKS for all the work on this. Yall take alot of grief for the "free" work you do. Just want you to know I for one, GREATLY appreciate the effort.

    GUy's

I hate to say this but the rules have not been touched. My wife decided to upgrade our computer two weeks ago. She had it up and working cool for about 1 day and the hard drive took a dump and everything seems to be gone. Not a huge issue other than she is still trying to recover it its up and running now but she won't let me near it at present. As soon as I can get back on it I will be working on it again. rick and I have been playing phone tag so I told him i would start hitting him with PM and IM's but haven't been able to do that ether. I'm sending this from work right now. Let you know were we stand ASAP.

When and Where are we going to do this deal???

I really think we should have a race later in the year ,loose rules..allow plenty of options pertaining to make (BOP),type of racecar (tube or stock ) or power application ( HP,nitrous, blower, turbo). Lets just get it set and worry about clamping the rules together after the race when everybody had a good time and we are passing around the beer. The folks that show at the race should be the ones who hash the rules together, after all they took the time to show and will be the ones who show at later ones. As for locations, lets do it at Bowling Green,Cecil or Natl. Trail....we will either have to make sure it will be open all day or rent the track..anybody know what it'll cost to rent any of these tracks? If that doesnt work...maybe do it at an event that will accomodate the race. Let's get it together ,then nit pick the rules between us...fish

    Not a good idea

You should have rules from the start to make it fare to everyone. If you dont the person with the most money wins. Would you like to go to a heads up Race where you no you dont have a chance of Winning. I have been to some PSCA races they have some Big Bucks in some of these class cars. The Buick world has along ways to go to run that type of class racing. I want a chance to win as much as the next guy. That you we need some tite rules. I dont want to see a bunch of racers putting there cars on Kill every pass and plowing up Engines and oiling down the track every other pass and then you have a bunch of down time to cleanup the track. I have been to headsup races like that. Thats my two cents

The first year i think it should be Nitrous only

As for cars like Kevin Steven 66 GS Come up with some rules for GS OUTLAW 33x10.5 W DIFFERENT class for 2007. These would take racers that run in the GS OUTLAW TRUE 10.5 Class to the next level if they have the cash to build a car like that. Not that many people like to Bracket Race. Lets face it the 16 or the 32 in BG Is a big bracket race. Some people just want to see how fast the can go they dont want to think about braking out

What kind of race is this?

I wasnt thinking this was going to be some huge deal where people were blowing their stuff up to compete. I was under the impression this was a friendly shootout, not under the umbrella of PRO or NMCA. I agree with you that it should be all nitrous...I dont know who runs turbos or superchargers, but it would be hard to police. I ran EZ/S and L/S since 98 for the fun of it,I knew I wasnt going to win,I enjoyed it. I would rather do that than bracket race....fish

    Rules...

I'm with you Fish, I'd rather heads-up and lose than bracket race. DOn't worry, someone will always blow-up there motor with or without the help of a power adder.

Just want to be fare to all

Thats all i am saying. Make the rules tite so you dont have one car that is dominate. In Years past that how the Pro Street class was in Bowling Green

    Sounds great so far guys...

I'm excited and looking forward to this deal,I'm hoping we can have a mix of Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs when we do it. I really think they would be made welcome at the Buick Performance Nationals next year,I for one love seeing them run hard.

Is there any information as to the date of the BPN..pre-registration? Host hotel? This something worth burning several days of vacation for and I dont get many yet.

OK..so who is going??? ROLL CALL!....fish

    Planning on IT!!!

I plan on getting back, putting it all back together, and making it work. It will be the first year at the Nationals for me with a car. I have a few things to make it legal but I Have every intention of being there! :Brow: Don't plan on a good head count just by what you see here. THere are a few that want to be sneeky and others who don't post on this board. :Brow: What do you think Bobb???

    Before or After rules

I'm with ya Fish about just going out and running a bunch of Juiced-up Buicks down the track but by the time you go and make one race, there are guys that maybe stuck $1000+ dollars into his car to make it faster for the race. Now you decide to hash out rules and tell him that his $1000+ has to go. Have the rules out front and then have a "fun" race. They know up front what they are suppose to have and haven't spent money without knowing the rules. I wouldn't want to spend money and find out I have to sell it. Just something to think about. Just got to lean on Bobb a little to get something out.

    Hey guys,

So I am here at the inlaws on "vacation", and I am thinking(God help us). For some of the rules ideas I am seeing here, would it be possible to loosen up GSP to a power adder class, making it run 1/8, and run it heads up ?? I HAVE NOT looked over the GSP rules in detail as I type this. But my thinking is, maybe we could loosen one class, to add cars to it. Isn't GSP kinda hurtin' for car count ? As I recall there was like only a hand full last year. I think they can run ladder bars and such, but still pull some similiar rules to GSE. Bob could tell us for sure, but maybe just an option to make things easier. Maybe amend the GSP rules to add power adders, I don't know. And I am not sure the GSCA would let this go anyways. But if we could increase car count to an existing class, by changing a few rules, I would think that would be easier than building from scratch. AND it would give one secure event to play. Not to mention "maybe" getting the BPG onboard for the same class at Salem. That would be 2 there. GSE is making a charge I think. The popularity is growing from what I have seen. Why not try and do a little work to GSP.

Like I said, bout' all I got to do here is think. We're all in trouble HAHAHA

    Need new rules....

Sorry, but I just don't like the GSP rules for a power adder. Too many areas for someone with cash to dominate the class. Also body style limited. too heavy, too big a tire.If this class was ever to expand to the Olds and Pontiac guys then you have to be more specific on legal and illegal. :Do No:

Hey Jeff, I don't think anyone can get a turbo or supercharger Buick Motor together that fast building from scratch. Not saying it is impossible but I wouldn't plan on being dominated by a supercharger or turbo just yet.

Hey Gary, glad to hear the interest. The more the merry! :beer Everyone that is going to Salem needs to bug Bobb about it when they see him there. He said that he is pretty busy getting things together for Salem and plans to get on it afterwords. :Comp:
