Sold for a $65k hammer price at Mecum Dallas in October of last year. It has been up for bid 7 or 8 times at Mecum events. I saw it next to one owned by Mike Guarise at Mecum Indy 2018 It appeared to have the issue with the peak on the rear quarters that often gets mentioned when quarters are replaced on the convertibles.

    Those fender emblems, though:confused:

The quarter panel issue mentioned about looks pretty evident in the photo.

$50k is my guess, before fees

Yes, looks like he sold it 2013 for around $84k or maybe $92.5k, I'm not sure their policy on showing bidder's fees going back that far. Quarters, column shift, bench seat car, with not original block, are all holding it back.

I saw it a few feet away from this '70 S1 'vert he sold for a $167.5 hammer price in 2018 so was able to compare the two:

The differences were clear but for the right price I'd be happy with the red car. He was also selling a matador red '69 Judge at that auction. I talked to him about that car for a bit. Best color for the Judges in my opinion.

He did sell another red '70 Stage 1 convertible in 2017 for $155 or $170 again not sure if bidder's fees are in there or not. Perhaps this is the car you were thinking of @72STAGE1

The emblems alone would be a deal breaker for me. We see it so often.

Those are so far off that IMHO to do it properly it would require removing the fenders, stripping them, filling the old holes, & repainting w/ probably not a perfect color match let alone the wear on 15-20 y/o paint. It would never look right so might as well fix the quarters and paint the whole car:).

Of course it could be done w/o doing all that by filling/touching up the old holes but...
    $170k (w/o fees I believe)

Is it just an issue of how close the GS and Stage1 are together? The second picture is of the car that sold for 170k a few years ago. Referencing that car it also looks like the Stage 1 emblem might be a little too far back on the quarter panel by a 1/2 inch or so.

What are opinions on the value of a 1970 gs455 white with black buckets. One repaint all original sheet metal absolutely no rust ever. Numbers matching 455 and th400, correct distributor, not original carb. Car was featured in a movie also.

Carb is correct if 7040240 is right for gs455

$45-50k (ish). For sale? I know of a board member that may be interested. Please PM me if it is for sale and if you're not going to pursue it.

Seems the GS & the Stage 1 emblems are both too low & the spacing isn't correct. I'd be surprised if the $170k car isn't correct.

We see this problem so often - It's become quite the pet peeve. Shame to get that far in a resto and have that be an issue. Mine had better be spot on when my cars are done, lol.

Dano, aren’t the emblem holes factory drilled?
