Please don't come to watch... bring a car and race it!!! I have 3 buick friends here that are saying that very thing. We don't get many chances to see more than 1 Buick at a track (or anywhere else for that matter) so lets support this mission. Since I know of NOBODY else thats bringing a car to race. I am talking my poor wife into driving my Wildcat down there, while I tow my Skylark, just to have one more car there. The Cat gets 9-10 mpg on the highway, so call me stupid, but I love Buick get togethers. So count 2 more in, please. :TU: If I can afford the gas.
here's why: truck not tow ready( needs lots of work) ou: : no trailer ou: : no decent tires ou: : car has cracked windshield : no $$$ ( to cover gas, entry fees, any possible breakage) ou: :want roll cage in the car before I even attempt a pass(for my peace of mind, never have raced before ) would have to win the lottery to afford it but i do want to come, and at least meet some of my fellow buick friends!
Rob, Good to hear from you. Well said about Buciks getting together. We need as many cars to show up as possible. The Kearney event was just getting started. This looks to be a ton of fun. I would be very mad if the Cat does not drive there, I love that car. Looks like my 3 cars will be there, chuck is bringing 3 also, ansd Cuzin' Larry will be there with 2. Hope to see everyone again soon. We also have are muscle Car Shoot-Out Sept. 9th in Douglas, Wyoming. Later John
*Mission update* Right on about bringing your cars gang. This is a sportsman class race. IE: FOOTBRAKE. NO leaving off a tranny brake, or even a line lock. Now, if your a real 4 box car you can use a line lock to hold yourself on the line. But NOT so for us auto guys. You HAVE to use both feet and they will have folks on the starting line watching everyone, under the penatly of immediate, no refund, DQ. With that being said........... I just got off the phone with the track manager and he is more than willing to work with us in regards to our now FAMOUS friday night BBQ. And helping getting us all in and parked together on mid Friday afternoon(KOOL!!). Meaning we will be getting in before anyone else, so our parking will be "primo". AND we will be able to park the "recycling" barrels where we want them. Also, Wayne(track mgr.) will be sending me info direct on the motels for us. As usual I will call them up and try and get us a group deal. He told me the 2 motels closest to the track are actually the best for parking room. So I will be posting that info as soon as I can. Better get your calls in early this year for sure. As we wont be the only players there this year. There yall are, and update to keep you fired up. Times getting close, I ain't ready(or even close, lol) but I will be there as usual. Lets introduce them to what "Fast wiht Class" is alllllllllllllllll about. Any questions, feel free to ask.
give 'em h3ll buick guys!!! look forward to doing this next year if they have it if I can be of any help, let me know!
Cool! John, how do you get 3 cars there? You tow your race car with another race car right? Sept. 9 HMMMMMMMMMmmmmm. maybe I could swing 3 events in a year?
I plan on being there. I'm not sure about racing. All I have is a 72 Skylark with a 70 455 built with a Comp Cams 268h and Performer intake. Other than that the engine is stock. The car also has a 273 peg leg. I didn't build the car up this way, I bought it like that. ou: I am working on it though. Anyway I will definatly be there to support all the Buicks that race. :beer Is the BBQ only open to racers or could I show up for that too? I'm glad to see that there are going to be some Buicks in town.
Clint, You don't have to race to join in with us come on down. BBQ is pretty much open to anyone Buick that wants to join in. We may hit you for a small donation to help cover the costs, but I promise it won't break you, haha. Usually we just pass a hat and ask everyone to help out. No set fee or anything like that. I fully expect to see you there now, I mean reallyyyyyyyy it's not like the "longggggg" drive is gonna hurt ya HAHA. Oh and once you get there and watch a bit, maybe we can change you mind about running the car. I know a couple guys that can influence you thinking............... Peer pressure is the coolest ! See ya there.
I don't know, 5 miles is a long way to drive to go to an event like this. :error: That's right, I live about 5 miles south of the track, so you can count me in. So, what is everybody bringing to race? I can't wait to see you all there. :beer
I have a 1982 regal needs a few things,no way to get them done before the race date i will drive there in my blue dodge pickup (hopefully) I am in abilene
Eric, STOP interupting my pool time, I'm on vacation, HAhHAHAHAHA. Ok seriously, I am waiting on a email from Wichita about motel rooms, As soon as possible I will post everywhere and let yall know. Shirts, it IS my intent to come up with something for us. Just a matter of timing and such, and getting is all in and done. If they're done, they WILL be there. Bear with me, it's all a bit new to me with this change in direction and track location. I'm working it.................
Well, get ready boys and girls. We were at Douglas last weekend. 3 Buicks Randy "The Hit Man" Messinger won his 3rd wally. Dave Dilallo runner-up lost to randy Me semi's in King Street, and the Jack pot race. Hope you all are getting ready. See ya soon, JC
