I am to the point where nothing needs fixed on my car (for now, anyway) and I have some spare cash. What do you guys think would be a good investment for my stock Lark?
i say gear/posi like a 3.23 or 3.42 as it'll give you the most seat off youre pant's feelling for your $$$ and then you can build off that later on down the line
>>I second the fuzzy dice idea - have them in my '72 - and it's a cheap upgrade:laugh: But seriously, definitely get a posi rear. I'm looking forward to getting my 3.23posi in the '72.
Alright, I'll look into that. I may also save it, because I think I want a four speed withing the next few years. But thanks for the ideas!
new, an eaton posi with upgraded clutch pack monzaz will hook up on on everything only posi i'd consider buying used would be a detroit tru-trac due to it being all gears..
or if not that a couple killswithes with a colum lock and perhaps a gorrilla grip 3 steering lock :TU:
Matt, you'll have to come to one of the Buicks at Bunker Hill events and meet up with some of us other Hoosier Buick guys. By the way, if your car is a stock '72- it doe not make the HP and torque number in your signature, that was for the hi-comp GS350 motors.
I would consider saving it. These cars can sometimes all of the sudden need a $1000 part or repair. Not worth going into debt. Otherwise, I would say a nice cam would be a good value. The stock ones are not good at all. Steeper gears without an overdrive transmission ruins driveability.
That was the first thing added to the wagon That gorilla lock is worthless a hack saw would take care of that. If you haven't got it I would go with a good dual exhaust. But like Carson said you never know when your car will need something. Tim
Cullen, I learned that a few weeks back. I mistook mine for being the same as the high compression 350. I guess I just forgot about the sig. When are some upcoming events? I'm in Marion, by the way.
Well you just missed the big BPG event in Columbus, OH. There is a car and rod show in Knightsville this weekend that some board members are going to (I'm un-sure if I'll be able to make it because I'm getting stuff ready to move next weekend.) I'll have to double check with Wild Bill, but there should be a Buick night at Bunker Hill drag strip in the middle of October. If I hear of anything else local I will let you know.
Alright, I probably won't make it to Knightsville this weekend, but I'll try to plan to be at Bunker Hill.
Ok, so I've done some thinking, and I think I may go with a new cam shaft. I am a gear head, but being 17 I don't have all the necessary tools to do this job myself. Do you guys know about how much a job like this would cost to have a pro do it? Or is it worth attempting myself and getting some new tools while at it?
less then 900 lol at the time when i first got my car in 04 i took it to a machine shop. installing headers, billet double row timming set with ta cover, poston 110 cam(lifts, pushrods, rockerarms, valvesprings) along with rebuilding heads* it cost me $900 my guess would be somewhere around $300
