Not to worried about the "little" 340, I'm sure the car drives just fine with it.

The car looks very correct to me.
The numbers matching engine would matter for two reasons.
First, price negotiation and second so that you know what you can feel good about doing with the car later.
If it's non numbers you may be willing to upgrade the power at some point.

The 340 is a fun driver but it's not a major power house.
Ping is an issue due to the crappy gas today and the high compression.
I put octane booster in every tank in the one I had.

It would be a fun, good looking car.
One of the reasons that I ended up selling my old one was because the performance wasn't what I wanted and it being such a rare car I wasn't willing to modify it.
I like the stripes and the whole appearance package of the GS 340.

You will not see another one when you are out and about.

Where are you located?? In Western Oregon?

I love these cars, they are great looking and unique w/o many made.
the engine # is hard to see as it is under the PS bracket on the block, usually dirty there; fine letters/numbers are hard to see.
I saw one @ Danvers, it had been featured in Hemmings, NICE.

If the car is as good as you say, 11,900 is a decent asking price. I've restored several 67's and they are expensive to do, as with most Buicks. I wouldn't purchase a GS340 that needed restoration because it would only be worth 1/2 of the cost. However, this car at this price would be a great car. Don't mess with it by changing engine & transmission. If you want a BB 67 wait and buy a GS400. It will be cheaper in the long run than changing the 340. Just my .02

Thanks everyone for all the replies! They have been very helpful!

I have a question about numbers matching. The number under the power steering bracket, what number would that match up with?

    Thanks

The car isn't perfect, the underside has some normal road wear on it and some surface rust but nothing substantial (that I can tell). I don't plan to change out the engine unless I have too, your advise just confirmed what I thought which is that it would be more expensive than it's worth.

    Steve,

I own both the 1967 GS 340 and GS 400. I can tell you I get as many compliments on the baby Buick as I do on the other. It is truly a fun car to drive and has lots of torque. Believe me, I've pushed that little 340 to its limits and she has held her own!!

If you like the car, buy it! Start low and work your way up. You can't buy a car in any market today for that price, in that condition.

    Enjoy!

    Andy
