    Hi all

I'm looking at buying a '67 GS340 that has been restored. These cars have caught my attention because they are so rare and so few people know about them. I realize that they have never really been popular with the collector car community because they don't have have the high horsepower engine, etc. Any thoughts about this particular model would be helpful. The asking price is $11,900 and it is pretty much a show car. Is the price too much in the current market? Or?

    Thanks
    Steve

If it's not made of rust or loaded with bondo, then I'd say that's a very reasonable price.

x2. A friend of mine has one that's the pewter color with red stripes and a black interior. It's a decent restored car but not concours by any means and he paid a whole lot more for it than the one you're looking at. And no, they're not the ball of fire that a GS400 would be but they are very nice driving cars so I'd have to say go for it if it's not a bondo buggy.

Thank you for the quick replies. I have another question. The VIN and the data plate on the firewall are correct however, the only thing I haven't been able to confirm is numbers matching with the engine. Should I be concerned about this? I know for the high dollar cars it's important but this may not be an issue for these cars.

    Thanks

I disagree on the value,$5K $7K tops!!!! This is still a buyers market.:Brow:
No boxed frame, small block......but then again it depends on condition:TU:

The condition is basically show car perfect. I'm not an expert by any means but the car is as clean as any you would see at a car show.

Once again we enter into rare....but desirable:confused:
I love the 67 GS 340 but.....that seems like a LOT of money.
A board member sold his for $4K,not restored.
If you like it,buy it:laugh: But it's not an investement when you try to sell.
    Show us more pictures!!!!!!!:TU: :TU:

Snap more pictures of the interior and underneath the car. Are they touting the car as numbers matching?

To find numbers on the engine I've including a link that shows the location for these. (see below)

    http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_where.html

I like the car and would pay $11,000 for a perfectly done show car, but that wouldn't stop me from driving it though :3gears:

Who in the heck would want a 340 in their car, anyway :moonu:

Seriously though, if it's as described, then I'd buy that car all day long over a project. I think a closer examination is in order.

Also, $11900 is only the asking price and cash talks. :TU:

Thanks for the link! The car is NOT being sold as numbers matching.

I agree, I really don't want a project car at this point in my life. I really like the look of these cars, which makes it unique, and that's what I'm going for.

The 340 is pretty unimpressive! So that means that there is nothing keeping me from putting a 400 and a TH400 in it now is there?

If its as nice as the pictures we see, then it is a good deal. Looks like a wonderful car. 260 h.p. is not bad from a small block from that era. I like it.

Thanks everyone for the advice....looks like there is a GS340 in my future!

I would poke $8000 under his nose and see if he takes it....and walk if he does not.... but I would leave him my phone number:Brow: Right now the economy is down and not many people have that much money laying around to buy a classic car with.... play the game....

That 340 in an 'A' body is going to outperform the 322 in my Roadmaster. But, everyone doesn't have to go fast. I mean, at every drag race there; are a lot more cars parked in the parking lot. Than there, are; racing.

Are those Buick wheels? They look like Chevy wheels to me, with; Buick centers. And, that stripe? (But, I don't know much about those new Buicks)

I agree with Doc, offer; $8,000 and your phone number.

If the numbers do not match; it should definitely be a negotiating factor. Advertising point not withstanding.

See, I don't know; one way or, another. Are, those stripes (and, the wheels); authentic? :Do No:

    I believe they are for a GS340.

    Bulldog,

The wheels and stripes are authentic with a '67 GS340. It's a unique car as there were only 3600 produced. They didn't sell well at the time, not enough difference in price between these and the GS400's, which had nicer interiors and bigger engines.
