Looking good Dave, should have roof by the weekend?? What's the dimensions, looks like mine 28x32, not big enough! RV
looking good but not nearly BIG enough!! i finally got a 40x 25 with 2 16 foot doors and its not big enough!! but good to get inswide out of the weather-enjoy it!
My garage is 34x40 and is filled up! Have 9 cars in it for the winter. :eek2: They are NEVER big enough. Mark
There never big enough.I built a 30x50 with a 30x30 L section off the main 30x50 section. 3 Buicks in the 30x30, and the other section is for my cabinet shop
It's a 26 x 36 They put the trusses, sheeting, and tar paper on it right after this shot (man those guys are fast), and I put my pickup in it last night. It'll easily handle 4 car storage in the winter with room to work on one in the 9 foot door area. Plan to put a 4 post lift there, too. Didn't really want it any bigger, but did start of as a 30 x 40 until we analyzed the trees and other obstacles. Will be fully insulated and heated with a Hot Dawg gas heater. Always wanted a nice setup like this. It's only across the driveway and a little behind the other attached garage, so plenty close to the house (unlike the other garage that's 400 feet away.) Finally I can sort out my 18 truckloads of parts, equipment, etc. that I moved out here and get the other 68 and 66 finished up. Retirement is good, I highly recommend it. The earlier, the better. You find a way to get by on less (except where the cars are concerned). No more, though. Three is enough.
Hey Dave, Whats the story on the green '66? Is that the car that you list in your signature? The reason that I ask is that a guy I went to high school with had a twin to that car. His parents bought it new and babied it until he was old enough to drive and take it over. The car was a 4 barrel automatic with the spoke hub caps that had the little spinners on them. It had just over 40,000 miles on it when he sold it about 15-20 years ago. That was the first real muscle car that I can remember riding in. We loved it when he would punch it at about 10 mph and the right rear tire went up in smoke.
Hey, Nice erection!!!!!! I'm so jeaious:laugh:   Oh well, maybe I have one like it someday.
.. thats what I wanted a 26x36...but being in the city..they wouldnt let me....the biggest I could go was 20x30...and plenty of drive way space.....they would'nt even let me go high enough... 2 possibly put a lift in.... you said hot dawg..?? mines still in the box (60kbtu) waiting for me 2 be installed since last year....never enough time....all I havee 2 do is hang it...all insulated ,wired, and gassed......
Re: It's a 26 x 36 Just think how fast they could have it up if all 5 of 'um had been workin'. Looks like my local city street department at work. ou:
Ken: I'll betcha this is the same car. I have the protecto plate showing the original owner in Warren. It sat in a garage for 10 years after the 2nd owners' son blew the engine. I've had it for 6 years now. Very nice car, still had the wire wheels on it when I got it. Was a 3.23 open rear end, so burnouts would be easy. Had to do some floor and trunk work from a leaky rear window, but no biggee. One of the straightest cars I've ever owned. Recovered the seats, but the door panels and rest of the interior is just like new. Gary Rubrich just finished the short block for it and Rob Thomas did the heads. Had to sleeve that one cylinder and the crank was toast. Converted it to a 4 speed and will go back together as a tripower. OMIGOD, a dreaded clone! ou:
Dave, I am glad that the car made it to a good home. The car had original paint at first then was repainted shortly after the first owners son started driving the car. That had to be about 1982 or 83. It was sold shortly after that for $4500 if my memory is correct.
Still has that paint, 44k miles now That repaint is still on it. It had a few rust repair spots on the lower fenders that I've had professionally repaired and repainted, and I had to replace the hood. It rolled off my ramps into the wall where the hood was stored. Glad I had insurance. We stripped it to a bare frame with the body still on it, totally restored and rebuilt everything and detailed it underneath. Put it back to gether with disc brakes and new stainledss stel lines. Very nice car now. Hope to have it at Pure Stock this year in September. June if I really get ambitious. We heard about the car at the State Fair swap meet. The 2nd owner (father of the kid that blew it up), came up and asked if anyone was interested in it. A friend took the information and bought it with the plans of parting it out for $$$. I took one look at it and traded a nice 84 Hurst Olds even up for it without even knowing how bad the engine was. It's got a good home, but may be up for sale in a coupla years as I thin things out more. Either that or the 68 W30 I'm doing will have to go to finance the cosmetic resto on the ramrod.
Sounds great Dave. I am looking foreward to seeing that car again and seeing it on a drag strip is definetly a bonus.
Nice garage Dave! After working in mine, I'm envious of any building that I wouldn't have to back two cars into the street, and another out of the garage, just to get to my tools or the GTS! Just remember to make an extra set of keys for every door and leave them in a safe place!:beer
