STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

    Hi Bill,
Steve G. (sold you that 4 speed plate, Steve) is helping me on the center caps and is being very fair on the pricing so that's no real biggie.
I did know those were gone when bidding so no foul there.

    Darryl,

That sounds like a "nice" little case you had there, but sounds like you slammed them against the wall though.

I had to do the same thing to the service manager at the local Buick dealership who tried to rip my Mom off (shortly after my father passed). They charged an unauthorized $2oo plus bucks to go all through the electrical system to repair a wire that a trim screw had "sawed through" and allowed to ground out.

I took it down to the body shop (because they had made repairs there a year earlier and they thought it was there fault).

We pulled the door panel saw the electrical tape repair and after we removed the over zealous wrapping job we found the wire insulation was completely intact with no cuts, scrapes repairs etc.

My body shop man requested the bill from Buick and insisted on paying my Mom for the bill for the "privilege" of taking those losers to small claims court.

Ya know it is one thing to get in someone's face and back them down and take whatever happens right then and there but sometimes nuts like the transport driver even "convince" themselves they are innocent and will attack anyway.

He went on and on about how he wanted to beat the hell out of the seller of my car, and "lost it" whenever I even mentioned the guys name, even though the driver had already blessed the seller out and then hung up on him .

If he would lose his job I about guarantee you he'd end up here, and let me tell you, this guy could crush a bumper I believe with his bare hands.I've been told by many people I have one of the strongest handshakes they have encountered but this guy's handshake was unbelievable (guess it's from working with all the lever's and chains and such).

One on one away from home, no problem.Him having my address and my wife or kids going to the door? No way.

May sound paranoid but I'm taking no chances with someone this screwed up.This guy was like a cave man,Charles Manson, and a gorilla all rolled into one happy package.

I'm still thinking on the whole thing though. There should be an answer that will not jeopardize any of my interests here

HOLY S#@T! You guys have some freakin horror stories! Wish I could ad something to the discussion, but I have seen quite a few dealer and small repair shops ripping off people because the customer does not understand their car. Makes me want to become a service manager just so people can get quality service these days.

    Non-running charge

John, I get paranoid every time I use one of these transporters. I have a '67 coming from CA soon which is non-running-they know ahead of time and charge 100 extra-sort of standard, seems like half the junk I buy is not running, so I have seen this charge before. $200 is effing ridiculous and the bone head claiming to have worked on the car-that is way out of line-these guys have winches to pull cars up and let them down, no need for brakes if they go out. I wonder if he was trying to pull the bumpers off to sell them with your center caps? Rats. Finks.
What was this guys name so I can warn McNutt auto transport not to use him. Cash is normally the way I have paid, thats nothing new. Hope your legs getting better so you can clutch that WILDCAT!

    Hey Ted,

Just don't use Grizzly Auto Sales and Transport out of Nevada and you will dodge one major stress pit.

The leg is ok to do some clutch action with pretty soon (major blood clot in it the size of a tennis ball, down from a softball size though) but I have to go back to the Gastro "something or other Doctor" who performed my surgery, on the bleeding and severe pain situation and find out what is up there.

He'll probably say "John, apparently you have been under severe stress lately, which has led to this unfortunate circumstance" (boo hoo)If he only knew.

Maybe I'll just go get hypnotized, I can here the hypnotist now.... "You will forget all about thieving transport drivers.....there is no driver you remember...all you remember (besides the Alamo) is a 1964 401 Buick Wildcat 4 speed, repeat after me......fourrrrrrrrr speeeeeeed foooouuurrrrrrr speeedddd, now give me a hundred bucks and clear out ya sucker

Well, it usually doesn't take me this long to "get over" something this ridiculous but I think I am finally at peace (pretty much) over things with the transport driver.I now have checks coming in to cover the overcharge (read CON) so I guess I'll leave it at that.
I hope they do as I suggested and check with other customers and see if their "friendly transport driver" repaired anything for them and got paid off in cash.Bet there are a few!

I guess being laid up at home hasn't helped matters much but I'm now getting more anxious to get the Wildcat back on the road and screech a few gears.

Course I still have to pay to undo what that transport driver did to my brakes  .

My friend got the brakes working enough to not have to use the clutch for a brake (when moving a few feet) but I'm just going to continue buying parts to go through the whole system and replace it all, and be done.Anyone got a manual master cylinder for a 64:Brow: ?

Only have one shot to get stopped with a single master cylinder and I think I'll make sure it has everything I can supply to make that work to the best of it's ability.

Anyhow thanks for all the support here, I was just so ill I couldn't stand it and you guys helped out a ton with suggestions and all.

    Thanks again guys:TU:

    WOW!

    Sheesh!
I go away for a few days and it seems as if all h##ll broke loose over that car. :eek2:
Sorry to hear 'bout all the trouble you went through in getting it.
I think you're doing the right thing by "moving on" from all of that and getting on with the bizness of fixing her up. :TU:

    I'm still jealous. :gt:
Someone please remind me to keep my big yap shut the next time I spot a deal like that. :Dou:
Anytime you get tired of that car, John, you just let me know. :Brow:

    Ted,
I've called on that one several times and haven't gotten anyone there.
I even left them three different messages.
Still waiting on them to call back even just to tell me if it's been sold. :Do No:
