My Regal is T Runner. Now ex-wife named it. When we'd take the car for a drive with the roof off she called it a "T run". Could just as well have called it "the other woman" cuz they sure felt that way about each other. Ex-wife never could go anywhere without "T" causing trouble; deflated tire (not punctured), loose battery connection, etc etc. My 87 Turbo is "QuickSilver". No official name on either pickup tho. o No: Occasionally refer to the '84 as "Tug", cuz it'll pull anything. Call the daily driver "the GS" (real inventive - 92 Regal GS)
My previous car, '78 Impala, was called the Green Machine as well. I haven't really named the 225 yet. I've called it the boat, yacht, and land yacht, but none of those really appeal to me as a permanent name. Adam, how about "Great White" for a name? Anyone have any ideas for a name for mine?
Wife calls our GS "Hercules The Stud Gran Sport". Calls her T- Bucket " Candy" (painted candy apple pink).
The Bomb The guy I bought my 71 GS convertible from called it "Slider." I never figured out why. The car was re-named the first time my best friend saw it. He said, "Man, this is the ****." In more polite company, I refer to it as "The Bomb."
Our factory black 60 Electra 225 droptop is called the "Batmobile" by people who don't know "her". Her real name is Josephine in honor of my friend Joe who without his help I would have never gotten the car. My 69 Hurst Olds I named "Harry" because my late father started our business with a 70 model 455 Oldsmobile and also because the test drivers in 1969 said that was one "Hairy" ride after flogging a 69 H/O 455 test car. 1970 Cougar Eliminator with original FORD (Ugh! can't believe I spoke that name hereou: ) enamel orange paint with the black stripes was named "Sunshine" from the original owner.Course sunshine meant something else in the 60's and 70's when he named it. It was one bright car though...yikes!
As a side note....if anyone has a couple extra wire hubcaps like are on Josephine in this picture you'd sell, I sure could use two as the other side don't match. Sorry but just happened to remember that, please carry on
My brother took to calling my Electra "Carmen" when I first got it and that name has sorta stuck. :bglasses: Now I'm trying to think of something clever to call my Wildcat. All I can think of so far is "Felix" since he too was a wild black cat. Whatcha think? o No:
Alley is always a good choice for a "Cat" guess I can actually name my 64 Wildcat "Fritz" for the ole Fritz the Cat movies from the 1960's and 70's. Think I'll pass on explaining it to the kids thoughp A Fritz fer Fritz:beer :bglasses: Three days and counting till four speed fever hits me:Brow: Hope that transporter is keepin the pedel to the metal:grin:
Thats to funny. I had a 78 Scirocco named: " ARRRRRGGGGGG " that burned its points every couple thousand miles and left me stranded. I know the sledgehammer feeling as I put combat boot to the drivers door after it wouldnt start when i was late for work. Yea, fun car, but was the biggest turd ive ever had the misfortune to own. I didnt feel bad at all about kicking the crap out of it. The electra is named Moby Dick right now ( guess what color ) but its soon to be known as " pile of pieces " soon as we get the sawzall.
Lee had a really cruddy old 70something Ford truck that had different colored doors and he routed the tail pipes up behind the cab and put flappers on them in pure redneck fashion. That truck's name was Salvage. His friends have always called the chevelle The Shovel. I told him if we built a skylark prostreet car I wanted to call her Betty. He didn't like that idea and then we had a debate on whether cars were female or not. His cars have always been boys. I think I'm going to call the GS Petunia from now on just to bug him. p
Hey Fritz, nice booster seat I commend you Sir. I too have a child safety seat in my GS. Hey it beats driving a minivan. My favorite cruising is around town with the boy in the back waving at every pretty girl he see's in traffic....they seem to respond well to him too....maybe becouse he's only 4 1/2 Dana
we had a debate on whether cars were female or not. His cars have always been boys. (this was a quote. don't know why it didn't come out in blue) I didn't know cars had a gender. How do you tell what it is? Do you have to flip it over on its back and look? uzzled:
My '85 LeSabre is just simply known as "The Boo." Some of my friends at school also call it the "Pipesmobile" because my nickname at school is Pipes. Either works, I know what is being referred to.
Dual quads ....female One large "Dominator"....male Any questions? I choose the name based on how the car makes me feel when I think about it. My 60 Electra is something I respect more for it's rarity, class, good looks, and usually is very dependable hence she got the girl name. Now the Hurst Olds made me go into caveman style grunts whenever I got near it. Huge obnoxious hood scoops, wicked motor, with a politically incorrect "His and Hers" shifter, exhaust trumpets to announce it's arrival or rapid loud exit, high speed spoiler. So basically "Hairy" was screaming dude power. I usually prefer calling my cars a girls name though because I was taught to never lay a finger on a girl ever (no matter what) and some of my cars get so frustrating they need that element of protection:grin: Plus it says on dash pads and scratched up knuckles!
Hey Dana, Yeh, it is also a great way to get out of the house when mama is getting stressed with the 3 children. There is always a ride available with daddy when things get tense around the house. They seem to always come out more relaxed when they got in also:Brow:
