I went by info I got from the Dove book. Also looked at Teambuick, https://www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_engine_where.php The 350 and 455 differ, and year makes a difference as well.
On both my '70 & '71 350 GS blocks the partial VIN is stamped vertically on the front of the block, driver's side. Interestingly, the '70 is an 05B body & the '71 is 05D yet the serial #'s are almost 120k apart - I assume because if the strike @ the beginning of the model year.
Thanks. It isn't on the deck as well though? I think just the 455 has it on the deck between the front 2 plugs.
Just on the front. Seemingly I'd have known that being that I've had more 350's than 455's but the value of those #'s is more significant w/the 455 and even more so my Stage 1 4-sp.
