My machinist already put the line in but put it on the passengers side. I believe it’s the drivers side that receives oil last. He wanted to run the oil line to the front to feed oil from both ends of the oiling system. He was a firm believer in overkill.

Your machinist is correct, the line goes on the passenger side. The passenger side galley feeds the mains. The driver side galley supplies the lifters, oil gets there across the front cam bearing. The line is an oil pressure equalization line. Jim put one in my 470.

Congrats on finally finding a car to complete your project!
I wouldn't worry abt a gage off the rear either.
Those head gasket holes are steam holes so just leave them alone.

Went through the paperwork for the aluminum heads from TA. It states to increase the hole to 5/16-3/8”. I went with 5/16 beings it matches the holes in the head.

On steel shim GM 68/69 gaskets, there were no holes at all.
TA alum heads might be a different animal.

    Ah got it back words:oops:
I remember the show putting in a 12 bolt with 3:91 gears, are you keeping them:D
Any cool story on how you bought the car? The fantom works show claimed the owner always wanted one with the options they added like the rear defogger and cruise control but I know it's kinda a scripted show??
Edit: Just went back to see the episode, forgot that they also put a 5 speed in it!

Sorry for all your set backs:( and hoping all goes well from now.

My son found it on Facebook and beings it’s was only a 2-1/2 hour ride we despised to check it out. The owner has health issues so his son in law was selling the car for him. Settled on a price we’re both happy with and trailered it home. Not much of a cool story. The selling point was the Moser 12 bolt and legend 5 speed. The gears will be staying. Fantom Works at least got that right. There’s a lot of wiring issues and I think the motor is a bit tired, but I have the cure. It’s going to take some time but at least I’m back on track.

Here’s a picture the morning after we brought her home. There’s a bit of scrape on the drivers rear quarter. The car was kept in a storage facility and it was tight getting in and out. 79A9C7C0-120A-4D69-8515-623B26CC7B94.jpeg

    She does look good:cool:
Was it Fantom Works wiring that has the issues as far as you can tell? I'm curious of their work overall?

Congratulations on getting that car, it looks great and the 5-speed is awesome!

You going to do a separate thread on it?

It's like you had the old car fixed. Same color combo & all.
    Doesn't get any better!

Their work leaves much to be desired in my opinion. 0C9B08F9-BE45-42CB-99E2-14993087D766.jpeg

Wow thats a big shortcut. She is a beauty and from what iv'e seen pretty solid.
I remember them finding that rust spot after the owner wanted sound insulation because of the tranny having a factory whine to it. I guess it was "hidden" on the bottom by rust proofing after being patched.
I watched the episode again yesterday for the fun of it. They showed the top fix but "forgot" the bottom.
I don't feel bad now for knocking on Fantom Works on the video comments in the past.
I'm guessing your going to pull the interior and rug and tack that bottom piece down?

"Fingers Crossed" I can't wait till you put that AL head 350 in with those gears and tranny.

    Nice car!
On the Fantom works thing, I noticed most of those shows act like they’re the best, but in truth the camera/s don’t show the details.
I’m sure the crews on those shows are talented, but it’s a business, and they seem to candy coat a lot of stuff

Be nice to have Chip Foose do all the design, build & paint....for free!
Screw the original concept, go with custom.
