Mark is back to building turbo kits, I deleted the thread as it got sidetracked... I will give some more info soon but it is exciting, and I am glad to see him back making Buick stuff.

Thanks guys! I'm glad to be back. I picked up a '72 Skylark and will start a build thread soon. I'm also using the car to redesign the original twin kit, as well as an A/C friendly single system. The '72 is a factory A/C car so it will really help with the planning and layout. I'll keep you all posted! I had a little website hosting hiccup and my old site got deleted, but am setting a new site up as well, same website address. I hope to have some pics of the car and manifolds posted after the new year.

I would be happy to re-release the roller kit! As I understand, the flat head screws used in the original design were prone to snapping at the head, but swapping in a regular grade bolt fixed it. If I do the roller kits again, I'll address the issue by recessing an area that will accommodate a hardened washer, under a header bolt with a smaller head. That should fit between the rollers, but spread out the load better. It is what I did on my Ford FE stud mount conversion. I'll be adding info to the website, http://www.burtonmachine.com/ soon!

That would be awesome if you did! I never saw anything about that problem but if it this fix spreads the load out better that great! Always thought that this was a great alternative to the TA shaft mount roller rockers.

It is so nice to see you posting again, awesome! The Sbc roller setup is still working flawlessly on my engine, had the engine to 8500 and it all survived. Excited to get my single kit from you.

Thanks Sean. 8500rpm huh!? Good God, poor thing. I love it though. The roller conversion on my Galaxie seems to be doing well too. I've been busy with this (see pic) and will be getting the Buick kits going asap. I need some motor (frame pads) for a Skylark. The guy wanted to make a Skylark into a Chevelle and was swapping a SBC in! Glad I got to it first.

I solved the probllem by tapping the heads for a bigger fastener and having the plates machined as well for the bigger screw. But, I agree. Bigger would be better in this case.

Thanks for the input Jay! A tapered (flat head) fastener is weak right where the threads meet the head. Microscopic amounts of lateral torsion act as a lever on that already weak spot. Also, I originally sent stainless screws, which are more brittle. By using the hard washer under the head of a regular bolt, or small head flange bolt, the principals of leverage are applied to the underside of the head, as the load is spread. A 3/8 grade 5 bolt has a proof load rating of over 6000lbs. Bottom line, I just picked the wrong bolt originally. Lol. I know Bobb Makely used the setup in his son's engine and they just swapped the flat head for a regular bolt. Funny thing is that Sean's is still taking a hilarious beating with the flat heads.
